Check out Domain Names and Web Hosting by IPOWER (http://www.ipower.com) that have a pro plan for 5.95 a month with no extra charge for the URL, they host your site, you can build your site and you can put it on line. Pretty simple. I have used them for the last ten years.

1&1.com easiest and best out there. Preset tempates for free and all.

Ive worked with dreamhost and wordpress in the past.

Depending on what you want you might be able to get away with a blog type setup, like melynk and Pickering use for their Striper blogs.

Think don at Afterhours uses the same one.
