I exported all my Windows Live mail files to a file on a USB drive. My question is....does this also export copies of the attachments? Put another ay , if I lose everything , I can import my email files back into Windows live mail , do the attchments come back too? is there any good and ffree email backup that will backup the attachments to or do I have to go through and save them (attachments) manually?

I honestly have no idea. I have not touched Windows Mail since that terrible version for Vista.
You may want to periodically export to another format like Thunderbird.

Google contacts is the way to go with everything now a days, exporting and backing up windows mail is nothing like outlook express. Which was a great program but had its limitations based upon its ability to get corupted at over 1gb of size.
