I think it would work fine for schoolies but I frown upon targeting schoolies both from a health of the fish perspective and a desire to limit their knowledge of hooks while they are too small to take for the table. I made a similar rig maybe 10 years ago that consisted of 2saltwater spinner baits I epoxied together and put 2 storm shads on it but I never caught with it. I'll post a picture when I find it. It didn't cast real well and occasionally foul hooked so I retired it due to lack of confidence (I made it so I assumed I got it wrong:rollem:) maybe I will get it out again now that I can troll it from my yak. Here's a crappy photo of a spreader I tried and another brain fart where I removed the deep swimming lip and tried to make the plug look like more than one fish.

Found it along with 2 other prototypes, it's kind of hard to see but I used silver leaf and some eyes I altered to make the head where the two spinnerbaits are twisted together, silver leaf for the frankenstein attempt which also has feathers out of the sides to simulate fins.

This next picture shows my first attempt at simulating a herring I made when you could no longer fish herring, kind of a Frankenstein compared to the other which is a third attempt at the plug in my avatar which actually got voted best handcarved at plugfest a few years back. It has part of a sinker epoxied under the chin that I was using to see what different weights would do to the action, I used a cordless dremel while testing to remove some of the lead to see how it affected the action......then along came Sebile and my plug building went on the back burner because I did not feel I was capable of making something that would perform as well. I even got a lathe that I've yet to use:smash: I hope to revisit plug building eventually.
