View Full Version : So much for Tebow and Flacco

I'm really tired of all these people who keep saying "The Pats are going down." " Tebow will kill them." Then "Flacco is a monster." Now I will have 2 weeks of "Eli will crush the Pats."
Brady looked like crap and they still beat the Ravens. The defense stepped up. The game was over when Evans got the pass stripped in the end zone by Moore, not the missed field goal.:pats2:

I prefer to watch a good old arse kickin than a nail biter .. Flacco threaded the needle all day long under heavy pressure.. Gotta give him props on the day but I'll still take Brady. Perfect the way the day unfolded with NY Giants winning . I wanted the re match .. Hollywood writes this stuff ,,.

I totall agree, but SF was actually the better team. You add someone that can field punts and NY has 10 less points , and doesn't have a shot at that game.

I was getting pissed off listening to Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. Those two are some of the most biased announcers ever. All through the game they were pumping up the Ravens how great they are and all. Barely once did I hear them giving props to NE defense. Even at the end they were announcing Evans dropped the ball. No he didn't. Moore stripped the ball out of his hands. I had to keep muting the sound between plays just so I wouldn't throw up.
Did NE suck? Sure when you know they are a better team than the ones that showed up yesterday. But give props where due. They put up just enough points to win and without the Pats defense, the Ravens would be going to the Super Bowl.
Post game interviews were mostly with the loosing team.
Post game interviews on Fox after the Giants win were mostly with the Giants.

Absolutely agree. Phil Simms in so biased against the Pats it is sickening. All he could say all day was Flacco is great. Not once did he mention the Patriots defense.

The offense had an off day. The Defense stepped it up big time. If the defense plays as well, and the offense plays like they have been when putting up big points then the Giants don't stand a chance.

I still do not like deferring when you win the toss though.

What's up with that anyways? I've seen that an awful lot this season.
I know some teams like to receive at the start of the second half.

Not once did he mention the Patriots defense.

That's because the Patriot defense IS horrible... One game doesn't change that (Teblow doesn't count, and how would the announcers know before the game started???)

They won a game for Brady yesterday, that's for sure, and definitely stepped up... But that was the first time all year that they've done anything that's worth "giving props" for.

And piemma whoever was saying that Tebow and Flacco were going to blow out the pats was obviously clueless... It was pretty easy to see that the pats were far superior to both teams going in, both on paper and on the field. The Achilles heel of the patriots is they're too reliant on TB... and if he has a bad day, they have to rely on the D. Yesterday they really stepped it up. If Wilfork doesn't have a monster game and Evans isn't stripped they lose. But the question still is if they can do it next week against the Giants weapons, while at the same time protecting brady so he doesn't have another 'off' day.

Should be a good game- rematches are sweet.

The was a lot of the "blow out" stuff on sports radio. Your assessment of the game is right though. If e
Evans hangs onto the ball, Ravens win.

8th ranked D in the league... 1st in sacks... Turned it on in the second half, but as we all know stats don't translate to wins!! :rotf2:

Vince Young is a dolt! But wait till we get Kuechly, gonna be unstoppable! Next year is our year (the eternal cry of the Eagles fan)!

The patriots beat the team that beat the team with the #1 defence.... all I hear is the Steeles were hurt BFD... .. pat.s have been playing with a patchwork defence all year... but when they win.. the Bronco's sucked...the pat's beat a tough physical team that ALWAYS give them problems..BTW.. #3 defence... what more do they have to do...it is not always going to be pretty but this team has heart... and when the game is on the line.. they find a way to get it done... even with guy's that were sitting home playing vidio games on their couches in September...

Not me either, you got that right. I did not even want the Giants to win in the regular season against that other NY team :wall: but of course they had to screw that game up which allowed the Giants to get in the playoffs :smash::fury: I wasn't worried about that other NY team.

someone find me a $2500 winning scratch ticket please so I can go with my brother to Indy!!! please, he has 2 tix and I am broke :wall:
Not looking forward to listening to Buck either, I'll have to have Gil and Geno on instead.

Brady will bounce back, he has that mental toughness that Sterling Moore, Danny Woodhead and the rest of the team showed.

VINCE will be unstoppable in 2 weeks I hope.

The D is fired up as a whole. The D linemen are getting more attention than they ever have. All this tells me they will be farting lightning bolts on feb 5 and they will be beating up manning. the Giants have nothing but manning. If he tries all passing against our now psyched line and LB's , he's going to get crushed. that's the way to stop him. Our secondary is no better than they have been all season but it seems the pass rush has been getting better every week. So don't stop the receivers , stop the passer!

Afraid of the Giants... no way. I say we own them. This is not like the last time we played them in the suprebowl when the Giants had a good team that was peaking at superbowl time. This years Giants have nothing but Manning and we can stop him by pass rushing.

I predict one of the most boring Superbowls in a long time. We will love it because we'll be up by 20 at halftime but the rest of the country will be switching channels to watch Heidi! :)

Their D-line is great and they have some good linebackers. Their weakness is the secondary, but if Brady doesn't have time to throw, it doesn't matter so much. I'm more scared of this Giants team because of the D-line and Nicks and Cruz against the Pats secondary.

We can go back and forth "...if San Fran can field a punt, if he doesn't make this great catch..." blah, blah, blah. I'm a Giants fan, so you can take this with that in mind. The Patriots only beat 1 team with a winning record in the regular season. It was the Ravens. Bill and Tom won't take this Giants team lightly. Nor should they. Manning was beat up yesterday by a very good SF D. He stayed in there. Eli made us proud, win or lose.

This is all gum flapping, or keyboard tapping, present post included.

In a little less than 2 weeks the boys who count will be strapping them on. Then we'll see. Should be a good one. I'm looking forward to it. Vegas is giving the Pats the nod and I can't disagree. Won't be surprised if the Giants pull it off. It's been a weird season. Heck, I would have said that NY wasn't even the best team in the NFC East at the end of the season, but Philly will have to show us next year. That's a dangerous team IMHO. Now you can fire away

my 2 cents

I am sick of hearing that!

they play the teams on the schedule and have no control over that, the Pats beat quite a few teams that would have had a winning record had the Pats not won those games, like SD and Denver. They were close to beating the giants at the end of the game as well, and if so the Cowboys would have won the division.
Rant all you want but like you said, the Pats won't take them lightly, it's gonna be a huge challenge. Your QB is playing very well.

glad Buck is not doing the game

Our defense sucks, we can't run the football, we have no deep threat, we played the easiest schedule, Brady is hurt, blah blah blah. We are in the Super Bowl and so are the Giants. Every other team did not do as well, that is an indisputable fact. Wins and losses are the only stat that matters. One game left to prove who is number one and who is number two. At worst Patriots are the second best team in 2011. I hope the Giants are favored by two touchdowns....lol

01-23-2012, 01:41 PM
That's my point, Slipknot. We can stand here and "...if, if, then, then... " Doesn't matter. These 2 teams are in the big game. And it will be decided then. Looking back and saying "We beat the team that beat the team that..." Huh?

I am thrilled the Niners put away NO. You think the Giants wanted any part Breese again? The dice roll, make a few plays, lucky or not, we're in.

You're right, all you can do is whoop the guys lining up across from you. The schedule is the schedule.

Looking forward to it, as I'm sure you are too.

It's gonna be a LONG two weeks listening to the talking heads and overzealous fans from both sides....

Bruce, I've been to five SBs. Three of them I was taken as the designated driver for some deep pocketed friends. Unless you have tickets to a bunch of the events and parties, especially the NFL's party, that's too much money IMHO. My first one was in 1982, and the game ticket was either $35 or $40.......

With revenue sharing, salary caps, and the nature of the game being closer to a level playing field than a lot of sports, football is set up almost fairly. All teams have a fairly reasonable chance of doing well, and all teams have weaknesses. It comes down to intangibles, like: can you kick a 32 yard field gold with a trip to the SB on the line? And the extraordinary talent of a few key players.
