What's some of your favorite themes explored in lyrics?
For example: I really like the theme of mysticism that Van Morrison expressed on much of the Astral Weeks and Moondance albums.
With the risk of coming off as a racist, I have to say I just don't hear that much variance with respect to themes explored in in Rap or R&B - ghetto confessional, hyper promiscuity, violence, etc. They come across as the viewpoints of someone who is not curious about things that do not directly effect them. I realize the origin of a person plays a big role, but with success one would think they'd eventually become more adventurous.
