View Full Version : 10'6" Honey Lamiglas Custom Conventional
1dozenraw 01-30-2012, 03:11 PM One piece, custom built in excellent plus condition, very little use.
I believe the blank is 136 2M cut down to 10'6"
SB 136 2M 11’6” 1 piece 3-5oz 1.095 butt diameter 11 tip 9 1/2 oz weight
I think the blank rating is more like 1-3.5 for plugs.
It is a GREAT pencil rod and all around beach rod for 1-3 1/2 oz plugs but will handle more without damage.
Great for eels, metal... Good match for a Newell 229, Abu 7000... Squiddah. Also could be a 3-4oz and bait stick. At least that's my read.
I just have not used it and it's time for someone who will to have it.
Typically limber glass blank. Great shape PU only in SoCo RI
$175 is my price.

1dozenraw 01-30-2012, 03:14 PM More pics. Five guides plus tip. All Fuji. Fuji plate seat wrapped on. Excellent condition. May consider trades for a 706Z, Abu original 7000CL Big Game, Abu Chrome Rocket 6500CS or the chrome 7500... in excellent or better condition only. Open to other offers, but that's what comes to mind.

saltwaterhabits 01-30-2012, 03:17 PM Probably a bit too heavy to accommodate Abu 6500's

Posted from my iPhone/Mobile deviceHi Mike... If that means you're interested you are welcome to check that out. I think I used it with a Newell P220. I have a 10'6" (10' with 6" extension) J.K.Fisher and I have used a Newell 220 and a 6500CL on it (7000 too) and I thought it was comfortable. But I may not have the same requirements as you. Anyway... you know how to reach me.
saltwaterhabits 01-30-2012, 04:19 PM Kevin, Am I wrong to assume the cut was off the butt ?

Posted from my iPhone/Mobile deviceI did not build it, but I would guess that is correct. I can mic the tip just behind the guide and figure what tip size it is and compare that with a 2008 Lami catalog I have. That would confirm. It feels like a 2M, not a 3.
1dozenraw 01-31-2012, 12:11 PM No love for the honey Lamiglas... well if anyone is interested... post here. Meanwhile, back in the rack. Maybe I'll put a Squidder on it and go in the rocks in front of Green Hill and try and grab a tog with it next summer... like the guys I fished with when I was 12. ;-) Just got to find me a spool of the 36lb test Ashaway line.
Stewie 01-31-2012, 09:17 PM I have a NOS spool of Ashaway 36lb nylon squidding line somewhere. If I find it, it's yours Kev. :uhuh:

If I find it, it's yours Kev. :uhuh:I think the "squidding line" was different... all one color, maybe light brown? The stuff we used was variegated... maybe white and blue? can't remember clearly, but definitely 2 color.
CLOSED here.
1dozenraw 02-06-2012, 09:46 AM Well, this is still in the rack if anyone gets interested.

1dozenraw 02-08-2012, 07:02 PM I put a 146 Squidder on it and went down to my b-way. Took it and my extended 10' + 6" JK Fisher and threw 2 oz bucktails. Left there thinking.. I'm keeping it. It's not too heavy, it handles a broad range of weight, I have a 7001 Abu Big Game for it so I can work pencils... heck, I can live with it for another season at least. NLA
Mike, thanks for checking, but I will cheat and use braid. Stewie pointed out that the old Ashaway line was very tough on the thumb... and then I remembered that all the guys had thumb guards, some knit by their wives, so they did not cook while casting.
People are crazy if they don't like the honey Lami's. I have on and love it. Great for pencils even up to 4oz. and even thru some 5oz with it.

I resurrected an old 11' honey Lami last year for the canal and was out casting everyone around me (except Tony O). They are the bomb.

They are the bomb.I was just down at the Fire District Beach with it and an Afterhours pencil, lefty Abu 7001BG. Not sure I'd outcast anybody, but it was really nice for that. It has a bunch cut from the tip so it's not as floppy as a full length and it's just a nice length and action. Because it has been cut down to have about a 12 (I think- .227") it feels like I could throw 3-4 oz no problem. SO glad no-one bought.
Stewie 02-09-2012, 02:19 PM Imagine how happy you would be if you had never sold any of the wide assortment of stuff you have had. :rotf2:
I said Dacron was tough on the thumb, Nylon squidding line is sweet, once it is wet.
1dozenraw 02-09-2012, 02:37 PM Nice day in my neighborhood. The Weekapaug Bridge is done and looks very nice, by the way.

piemma 02-09-2012, 05:20 PM Kevin, you will be happy you kept it. I have rods I haven't fished in 25 years but every year I bring out another oldie but goodie and never regret not selling them.
