Found out Sunday at er i had a kidney stone. They gave me meds and sent me home to pass. Monday I was ok, Tuesday things got worse, started shaking uncontrolably and vomiting, pain was insane. Saw urologist, he wanted to if I could pass it, few hours later I couldn't hold down pain meds or water, wife took me to brighams er in Boston. I mst have looked like a junkie waiting in line, old sweats, sweating, shaking. They gave me no bs, took me right in and pumped me with pain meds. I was able to settle down, kept me on meds all night, hoping I would pass. 6am they decided to o in and blast with lazier. I thought it was minor office surgery. They ad to do full anesthesia, breathing tube, 6 people in operating room for two hrs. I havent been in the hospital sine I had my tonsils out web I was five! Woke up feeling like a new man, sore and pissing every five minutes but no more severe pain. They got the stone. The doctors and nurses at brighams and woman's were amazing. They did everything for me. I need to take it easy or a few days, it's still hard to eat. What an insane week.

Sounds like torture!

I agree Brigham and Womans is a great hospital.

Hope you get well soon.

And how far away would a comparable hospital be from where you are moving to in Texas????? We are fortunate to have such facilities do close by....

Ouch. I've heard that is one of the most painful things there is.

Worst pain I have been in is thoroughly wrecking a knee. Not sure how they compare.

the doc said it was 3-5X worth than child birth, I have no idea. It went on for a few days and I was in a haze.
I was convulsing from the pain, shaking uncontrolably. My wife was crying watching me, it was surreal, Seems like a dream now, I can tell you its been tough coming down from the pain meds. they were pumpin me with them - my skins been itching, crazy dreams, paranoia, and other weird stuff.
Im better today, just waiting on a BM, hadnt gone since Tuesday. they gave me stool softeners which havent kicked in - Im sure you all wanted to know this

We believe it is the pain meds making you post this unfiltered.

If anyone wants to know what Jimmy REALLY thinks about something - NOW is the time to ask :devil2:

Wow , that's a mouthful! Glad to see you spent the money to get the extracorporial brand vs the plain old corporial brand. :)

Worse pain I ever had was with back injuries. Not too bad just laying there but when the spasms hit its out of this world. I've had 11 knee surguries , 1 hip replacemnt and the pain from them is no where near that experienced when you get spasms from say a wacked sacroilliac joint or pinched disc IMO. Never had stones (cross my fingers) so I cannot comment on that.

I did go through child birth once and it was murder . Oh wait, I'm male, ....guess that was just a big dump while constipated...:)

i know what ya mean SH about the back.... pain

when i was much younger....
i had a large load of laundry on my back
wrapped up in a bed sheet like a big Santa clause Bag

i was going to go to the laundry mat up the road
(the car was not running.... not quite repaired)

and i started jogging (a very bad idea) to not miss the bus
then i felt the crunch.... and i collapsed laying there
gasping for air like a fish out of water..... 100 feet from home
and i couldn't get there... might have well been 3000 miles

i could see it yet.....i couldn't even crawl ... i had to hitch hike
a ride to go 100 feet.... and it was PURE :point: HELL

but...that being said... the kidney stone is worse
because once the plumbing is stopped up...the stone
lodged in the opening of the urethra tube... like
a finger in the dutch proverbial damn
the pressure builds on the bladder until
you reach the make it stop or kill me level
that's some serious s h i t to go thru...
glad your on the mend Jimmy

those things are no joke, guy at work had one first time i had to deal with anyone having one, he was complaining about the pain after he passed it at work, im like stop being a .... then i saw deadliest catch and the captain had one, and those guys are tough so i have a whole new perspective on those things.

sorry to hear but happy to hear you are past it.

That is why my hip replacement was followed by diverticulitis. You don't want that.Oh and the dreams, dalaudin(sic) did me in.
