Wel, now that the FoABBIT has come and fizzled (thanks to everybody who made it), we were thinking of gearing up for PIKE next year.

Right now, I've been leaning towards the Cheshire Reservoir in Cheshire, MA. There's a Travellodge three miles to the south.

Would people be willing to travel here to fish? Are there spots that people think would be better.

Since Comet was so slow this year, I really want to get back to a spot where there are at least lots of flags.

We can talk about it more at the TFCTFN.

Thanks!
Rick

IMO if you want a bunch of flags, targeting pike might not be the best route... Haha. Personally I say it focuses on yellow perch. Tasty noms.

Yeah, Kev, I was thinking the same thing. The abstract says lots of fun and tasty ones in there!

Im still a fan of E Brimfield Rez but fishing on the other end of the lake. Im a little partial since its so damn close to my house but it does supply us with a lot of flags for the most part. The other end of the lake is more consistent as it has moving water. The end that we have fished in the past is the far end of the lake with the least amount of structure. I have fished the whole lake from a kayak and there are a lot of fish during the summer, bass, pickerel and pike. Never got a trout in there, but have taken some fish from the river about 1/4 mile downstream of the lake.

What are good locations mid state - say Woostah area? That's probably easiest to get to for a lot of people...

I say somewhere closer to the Brimfield res. I remember someone last year talking about a place a few miles from there with good parking and big bass and piike. I thinjk Raven or Rock crawler posted it.

Rob's right- the other side of Brimfield res is supposed to be pretty good. Lots of flags, and correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't a state record pike come out of there?

I was almost serious about the perch thing tho... Targeting big fish can often mean a low number of flags. If we want more action, might be worth picking somewhere that just has a ton of picks, bass, and panfish.

Another option would be a southern NH lake to try for lakers. Maybe RF9 could give us a heads up on where to go without burning a completely secret spot.

Where's the access to the other side of the Res?

There are three access points off of rt 20 that look functional, one north of the bridge, two south.

Another option is Quacumquasit, just a little north... That's where the current record pike (35 lb!!!) came from... Looks like limited access though, only on the north side.

If you want a productive Pike day I'd say Buel. Also stuffed with other species. But plenty of Pike action compared to other places. Plenty of parking and it's a nice size lake that freezes well that time of year

The best pike action is in the Berks!

Parking isn't a problem at E Brim Rez. That is if they re-open the boat launch west of the bridge. The tornado went right over the lake. I think that the tornado is going to help the fishing in there. Tons of trees and even some campers and parts of houses are creating all sorts of structure. It wouldn't shock me if there are some cars in there as well. The former state record pike was from there.
