When i purchased my iphone i bought a otter box defender case for it, it worked great, i dropped my phone more than few times from 5ft or so, no issues, got it splashed with water, not submerged just some spray.
The case is pretty bulky considering how slim the phone is, the outer rubber sticks to everything and is a pain to get out of your pockets, and the speaker, ear piece and camera areas still manage to get dirty and dust stuck in them. The otter box was $49.99 and did help protect the phone and served its purpose.
But i decided to get and try the Lifeproof case after hearing so many psoitive things about it. one of my cooks at work has it and loved it, even rain thru the dishwasher with the video camera running, i was sold.
The case is slimmer than the otter box, only about 2/3 the thcikness, doesnt stick to anything and is completely dust, water, and shockproof. All the buttons are there, doesnt compromise any phone features, and is super light.
Ive tried the water test, fully submerged it with the video running, not a drop of water. already dropped it a few times and has been in the kitchen for a few weeks now and no issues.
the case is expensive at $79.99, but i use my iphone for pretty much everything, contacts, internet, camera, photos, notebook, etc, so for me its worth the cost.
if your looking for a case get the lifeproof, worth the extra cost.
Hope that helps anyone whos looking.
