I believe there were about 132 million votes cast in the 2008 presidential election setting an all time participation record.

In 2010 on the heels of the recession there were about 154 million people working in the US, and that doesn't count the 50 or so million that are retired or on disability who either have worked or can't work.

Jeff, you missed the point. The operative words are "vote for a living ". As in the Congress and the Senate and the rest of the nitwits that have ruined this democracy.
