anyone use these type hooks for sluggo rigging? i always use the gami 7/0 octopus hooks, but would like to try these instead. didnt know if anyone had an opinion on them. thanks.

hogy uses similiar style in their baits, guess i'll string a few and try them. thanks.

I prefer them over the octopus for a few reasons:
I was with McKenna on Cutty when he straightened a few out on fish - reason #1. They provide a straighter body rigging - reason #2. I bought a box of 1,000 7/0 Eagle Claw live bait hooks a few years back for eeling - reason #3.

i just envision a much more streamlined look to the bait. and no matter how meticulous you are in the rigging process, i find after a few nights in your surf bag the larger hooks tend to twist all around making the sluggo need "straightened" before you use it. im going to try them and compare. thanks for input, toby!

Dave just throw riggies. They even catch after the blues turn them into cigars according to DZ and some other vets.

i throw them alot, i just have a soft spot for sluggos too!! theres just no substitute for the real thing!
