View Full Version : WTS: Rare original Sabre 1088 blank

Mike P 03-26-2012, 10:07 PM I picked this up for a well-known surfcaster, who decided that he didn't want it after he went over to the dark side (bought a boat). I decided to keep it, but never got around to having it built, and I no longer have a need for it. Time to let it go to someone who'll use it. This is an original Sabre blank in plum. Not a Pac Bay or Rainshadow. Original Sabre label and "IGSC 1088" in red grease pencil under the gelcoat on the butt. I will sell it for what it cost me---$150. Can't ship, pick-up only. Will meet in SE Mass or at M&Ds.

1dozenraw 03-27-2012, 03:59 PM Tempting, tempting. It has never ween wrapped correct?
nightfighter 03-27-2012, 04:55 PM If I hit the lottery tonight, this is my first purchase. No lie.... Won't someone buy this for me? This is like finding my first car, a 1966 Mustang, sitting in a barn with 100 miles on it. Damn......
JohnR 03-27-2012, 06:25 PM Great blank! This may have been the first "Internet Sensation" rod blank. It was just that, a great blank. A little softer IIRC than the following Pac bays. Hmm, maybe I'll go down stairs and check my unwrapped blank :tooth:

Guys - rod great blank - really. Wonderful 9' eel stick.

Label is still on it, Kevin. That's how it came from the shop--Donart's in Freeport, NY.

I picked up a 1087 at the same time--the last two Sabre blanks she had. I had the 1087 built. That one's staying home, though. :D
Slipknot 03-28-2012, 09:08 AM can I trade you a wrapped 1088 from CMS for it?

I had one of those, it was my first custom, but I broke it at the canal and CMS replaced it no charge but not with the plum

nice rod blank
Mike P 03-28-2012, 01:28 PM I really need to raise some cash, Bruce. Plus I'm trying to thin the herd. I'll keep it in mind, though.

Sure. Give me a place and time. Just be aware that I'm going down to Long Island on Saturday to catch the Bruins game. I'm a working stiff, so weekdays are out unless it's in the evening.

Sunday afternoon would be best. I'm in Bournedale, and I see that you're in Manomet. I'm meeting mackenzie around 1-ish in Sandwich, on the bulkhead near Joe's, on the S-glass spinning rod.
Mike P 04-03-2012, 09:17 AM Blank is still available, if there is any interest.
