I thought I was misreading this when I first saw it. But I guess a shortage of eels in Europe and Asia has made the price skyrocket. I guess I won't be slinging any eels this year!

I think I may have to look into trapping them myself,in the long run it'll be cheaper.

I was already considering it. With this news, I definitely am gonna try trapping my own.

There is about 2000 elvers in a #...about a buck a piece. That is what you are paying for them now.

The elvers are tiny, not the size they sell for bait. I buy eels by the pound during the season, usually 5 to 10 pounds at a time. I couldn't afford $10,000 TO $20,000 to fill my eel tank if the big eels sold for that much.

You will not be paying much more than last year this season.

I saw that one too. He should have had on a pair of undies to match! My hands would have been the least of my worries!
