Thought you guys might want to know about some new products.

Check out a new surf bag made by Nu-Mark it has all the features as the top companies but only sells for about $19.00

There is also another company producing Braided line called FINS.They have been making braids for years for other companies, but sence Berkley took over Spiderwire their agreement is cancled and they are on their owne. Their new line can actually hold any Knot. and has the highest knot or breaking point of any tested.

Shimano's $20 rebates

Also a company called Batson is producing blanks exact as the Sabers in fact these rods are made in the same factory using the same exact materials and mandrels but in flat black finish and in all sizes and actions .

Do-It mold company has come out with a 3 & 4oz. Smilin Bill Lead head jig mold $32

Roberts Lures has brought back their smaller Ranger 3/4oz.(Ballistic Missle Type)called PEPPY . This should be available around mid April

And last Bagley's has a new minnow type lure called Rattlin Top Gun. It is 6" long and weighs 1oz. it has a great finish HD hooks. Costs about $5.75

Ah, those were the blanks I saw at a shop here recently--I thought they might have been All Stars with that flat finish, but the prices were way too cheap for that. Thought they might possibly be All-Star seconds.

Mike, now that Pure Fishing owns Spiderwire, how does that bode for the future of Whiplash? Any word from the PF people?

Berkley has droped their 20 & 30 Lb. sizes. That way they are not competing with their Freshwater market .They have no other plans to drop any further sizes.By the way I bought all I could find in the 20 & 30 Lb. test with every distributor

Good to see you are coming to the show!! I'll be setting up alongside Bil-n-Juls guide service and I'll see about your request to be next to Brad...

I just built a Batson 1087 "Rainshadow" (wierd name, does it mean something?) blank for a bro-in-law (not that one) and I did like the feel of it before and after completion... Didn't know you carried those too... Will get to test drive it this spring :P

What do you think about the lever drags and EON reels? Might need to check them out...

Well, if I'm not too wiped out from the Florida trip, maybe I'll shoot up Sunday-I hate to miss this show. Even if I have to pay to get in ;-)

If you guys could get adjoining booths, that'd be great. Brad's buddy Kevin (not Canal Kevin, this one's an old friend from Reading) should be there again. People confuse us, we're both tall, graying and have beards. The first year I did the show, none of the "posse" had met me yet and they all came up to Kevin instead, as they had only that description of me to go on.

Brad said a lot of guys have been asking about that 10-1/2' All Star. JCX should be getting in touch soon, too.

Hmmmm, 10-1/2' All Star. I think that rod came up in discusion today at M&D's . I ended up ordering a lami sb 121 3m instead of an allstar. Mike says it will throw down to a 1-3/4 0z. jig. That's why I did not go with the 10' allstar which is what I thought I wanted.

Mike , good to see you found the site again. I forgot to ask you about those 2 for 1 abu's. I was thinking of putting a 6500c4 on a lami 1205 since it will be my first convetional surf rod. I thought about going with the BG7000 level wind but 2 for 1 sounds tempting. How does that work ? by rebate or something?

Yes, that it will. And, you will be positively amazed at how fast you can put a 20# bass on the rocks if you let that rod lean into it, on a full bore current. It used to be my chunk rod. It'll also cast 5 or even 6 oz jigs better than the 10' All Star.

Well thanks Mike P, that gives me great confidence and I am looking forward to using it. I just may end up spooling my neptune with that new Fins line Mikecc has.

If anyone is confused when they walk up to Brad's booth, strike up a conversation to draw out that Nu Yauka accent. Or you could wear a Yankees Suck!! T-shirt by the booth... That should get enough of a response to see if it's the real MikeP...

Hey Mike P. is that Kevin aka one of the Slapshots? I can't wait for this show looks like I will be seeing some old "Lepers" and some new found friends. By the way is All the Lepers hair is gray as mine?

Tony--no, Kevin was never a Leper. I think he came to the Vineyard once in the early days, but that was it. The Slapshot you're thinking of was Kenny. Not one of the Slapshot Twins, but their buddy.

For the guys scaratching their heads and going "Huh?", the Slappies were two brothers, buddies of Brad from Reading, who looked just like the Hanson twins in the movie Slapshot, right down to the coke bottle, black plastic frame glasses.
