Looks like the Bob Kraft / Steve Wynn group supporters are going the Al Capone route to try to get their casino in Foxboro.
A few articles state this "Jobs for foxboro" group is funded by Kraft/Wynn, others show them trying to distance themselves from the group.
Either way nice preview of what type of crowd this casino will attract !

My fiance and I just started some preliminary looking at homes and have been trying to decide what towns we want to look in. Foxboro was on the short list but the casino crap has both of us very hesitant.

Thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue sounds great, but we aren't talking tech jobs, professional positions or other skilled labor. The jobs are mostly unskilled labor and, quite frankly, not filled by the types of people I want to be setting our roots down with.

Just excepted an offer on mine JD, in Mansfield and near schools and lots of fishing buddies!! 5 bedrooms and a huge garage with a 2nd floor man town! I will give you the realtors number if you like, if the deal falls through.
Good luck. IMO no better town to raise kids then Mansfield.

Thanks buckman! Mansfield is high up on our list. It's just the two of us for a while (hopefully) and it's a first home purchase so we're looking for something on the smaller side and modern. I'm fine with redoing a kitchen or bathroom - I've helped one of her brothers practically rebuild the entire 2nd floor of his house and a lot of sweat equity with her other brother.

Seems like your place may be a little too much house for us at the moment...

Good luck on the sale! Staying in town?

Yet a report was just released that housing prices are down something like 3.5% over last year and at their lowest point since 2002.

I think the market will be at these prices for at least a little while longer.

that report is for the US, not all markets. Houses where we are moving in TX are selling in a day or so on the market. In MA, Mansfield and Franklin have really kept their values and remain in high demand. Its all about location. We had 25 people at our open house, 3 offers and sealed the deal in 8 days. Many people I know if town have had similar experiences.

Days-on-market and selling price are two different things. According to Zillow, home prices in Mansfield are down 1.6% from last year. Franklin is down 5.1%. Granted, that's Zillow but in my opinion, probably just as accurate as the governmental data.

Let's also not forget that a lot of banks have settles some of their foreclosure issues with the government and there's the potential for another injection of foreclosures and shore-sales.

Congrats on the quick sale of your house. A good friend of mine had his house on the market in Foxboro for almost 3 months before a realistic offer came in.

Why is it that native Americans can open casinos where no one else can? Is organized gambling something they practiced here before the Europeans came and wrecked the place?
