i've got one, never use it. if you were dealing w/ delicate baits alot it might help. but w/ most of the bait up here i think it would be a waste of time. you want it?

Now if they were to come up with a sabiki detangler, I would buy it! Those ffffing things are always wrapping up. :splat:

Niko, which one you have? It seems X Tool is no longer a going concern.... I'd like to try it. Even thinking of making up a few for The Boat Shop, our local tackle shop. Bait is like firewood...the less I have to handle it, the better

If youre not concerned about the health of the bait get the seawolf mackerel trees and just grab the swivel and do the quick clean and jerk with the whole rig over the fishbox. They'll fall right off and the hooks are beefy enough that they won't bend out. the bait wont be so happy, but if there for chunk who cares

Is it a de-hooker for the bait or your finger:fury:
If its for the latter, I'll be buying some stock in that company.

I'm kind of surprised that more guys here don't like them. I find them to be easy and the best part is that you don't have to handle the bait - something that is really useful if you happen to be catching harbor pollack for use as live bait. I will say that if I'm looking for live bait and I'm into the mackerel thick, I will switch over to a barbless mackerel rig. I tie all of my own rigs, too. Each dropper is silver flash material tied on with red thread. The rig itself is 60lb mono with a 4-5 ounce jig and heavy hardware on either end. Assuming that I don't get snagged on the bottom, one rig will last me almost the entire season and they will out fish sabikis every day.

How much for a dozen of them?

They work but I hate them. They seem to reach out and get caught on everything.

My custom sabiki dehooker. I just took an old prototype and ran some new wire through it.

I like it because I don't have to handle the bait and it really is easier once you get the hang of it.
