View Full Version : balls and chains
Rappin Mikey 05-22-2003, 11:08 AM Recently I have been getting a lot of s*#@t from my girl-friend about all the time I devote to fishing. I get stuff like: "You love fish more then me" & "try getting a fish to have sex with you". I was wondering if others are experiencing similar problems. If so, I was hoping people might share some techniques on how I may alleviate this discomfort.
P.s. sorry if this is a little off the topic, but I thought some shared advice could be very beneficial to all of us.

Having sex with fish will always cause some discomfort.
I always say "chasing bass on the water is better than chasing ass at the bar"
BigFish 05-22-2003, 11:19 AM Rappin' Mikey, first try to get her to try fishing. I am fortunate that when I met my girlfriend, she had never benn fishing before
and she decided to try it. The first time I took her fishing was for largemouth and that day she caught a three pound largie. The second time I took her fishing, two days later she caught, and I
am not exaggerating, a TEN POUND PLUS largemouth and we
have the pictures to prove it. Then I got her out striper fishing.
Her second time out last June she catches a 21 pound striper in the middle of the afternoon on a mackeral painted Gibbs pencil popper, and this fish went on to win her first place in MSBA's
annual derby in the womens surf division. Last Friday she caught
her first keeper of the season before I did and this only moments
after burying a 5/0 hook in her hand which I had to remove for her. If you can't get her to join the fun then you should just tell
her straight out that fishing is what you love to do and life is too short not to enjoy the things that you love doing. Also ask her
would she rather you sit in a bar or a strip club someplace as opposed to going fishing? I guess I was just fortunate to have hooked up with a great woman. I wish you the best with your
situation, I hope maybe she learn to enjoy it with you. Good Luck.
wellll....little different...but the same...
in THIS household I have the fishing problem (but he really doesnt give me any crap about it) HOWEVER....I will admit I have freaked when he's always gone doing HIS things......how do I keep myself in check????? if I do get to the "flipping out on him stage" I try to remeber that our relationship is a great one BECAUSE we allow each other to do our own thing! and I am very lucky! I dont know too many guys who would allow their wives to run off fishing with people hes never met!!!!!!! AND some he has!!!:laughs: :laughs: a lot of people includin my own friends and family dont understand this.....It takes a lot of trust and a good balance of "quality time" too. I really think it is true that women demand more attention from their mate (we are so emotional you know!!!)....just keep this in mind and hopefully this works for you! a little give a take ......:D
Well....it's not like you are married...
Just do what you want to do and if it does not work out with her then maybe it is for the best.
"Several years earlier....Madison's wife had thrown him out, requesting that he never return." :p
....um...one other thought to ponder...(and it could be just me) but if your referring to her as a "ball and chain" maybe there are more issues there than just your fishing!!!!!....just a thought!!!:smash: :smash:  :laughs:
Sweetieface 05-22-2003, 11:33 AM Try explaining how important it is to you.
If she hasn't caught on by all the paraphanalia you have (which worked for me), you might need to tell her.
The real kicker:
And be absolutely SURE to remind her: No matter how much you love to fish, you love her more. (if you love her)
Otherwise tell her that she's your number 1 even over fishing. (if she is)
if she isn't....maybe you shouldn't worry so much about the fishing as much as getting a gal that *IS* your #1...
Good Luck!
MountainBreeze 05-22-2003, 11:41 AM I agree w/ Joe!
Big Vern 05-22-2003, 11:49 AM You can have sex with the fish, but it brings a whole new meaning to the term "bass thumb"
hooked 05-22-2003, 12:17 PM Marry her.
Then she'll lose all interest in sex and you'll be able to fish more.
fishsmith 05-22-2003, 12:23 PM Hey Rappin Mikey,
You like rhymes and girls like money, soooooooo
"Give her some dough and she'll let you go"
or
"Give her some cash, and you'll still get some @ss"
or
"Give her cash and go catch bass"
or
"Keep your dough and let her go, with the extra cash you can buy your own piece of @ss"

RickBomba 05-22-2003, 04:02 PM How about this one, one day Bombardier came home from fishing to find a note and no more wife.
I'm looking for madison as a roommater right now.
It's not easy Mikey, your girl is very good about the fishing thing so consider yourself lucky!
Love,
Your Lonely brother:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
Karl F 05-22-2003, 04:29 PM Truck in front of me at the light, on my way home from work tonight.
"Wife said, Fishin' or me.
Damn, I'll miss her!"
Then I get home and read this thread....

bud8fan 05-22-2003, 07:31 PM I have to agree with the marry her part!!
All you have to do is get married have a couple of kids and she will let you go fishing anytime you want as she will be so tired from chasing the kids around that she will be in bed(TO SLEEP) by 9:00 pm almost every night! Just ask my wife!! LOL
:laughs: :laughs: :laughs: :smash:
RickBomba 05-22-2003, 11:52 PM Yep,
Billy she's a gonner.
She comes by to pick up the check every Friday.
Later,
Rick
maine/rifisherman 05-23-2003, 02:32 AM Man i had the same problem last year so i married her in september and now i can go fishing anytime i want. So just marry her like they said and you'll be fine. ( They say that scientists found a food that decreases a womens sex drive by 98%.................wedding cake) trust me it's true lol (unless my wife reads this then it's only a joke:D :D :D
Fishpart 05-23-2003, 07:05 AM I can't complain even though I don't get out every time I want to. Before kids I got out whenever I wanted to, now with three young children I feel a certain responsibility to be available for them so I don't fish all night like I would like to..............
In my opinion you need to strike a balance between fishing and everything else that is important, life is too short.
The only time I really got in trouble for fishing was the time I went to the canal on her birthday, like it's my fault she was born during the fall migration.....
Mr. Sandman 05-23-2003, 08:07 AM Time to look for a new girl friend. Personally I would rather catch a 50 then have great sex with triplets....but thats me. And besides, you can have sex anytime, I tend to have sex on the off-tides, you have to fish when the bite is strong...get your priorities in order my friend.
JohnR 05-23-2003, 08:10 AM Rick - sorry to hear that - really am....
RickBomba 05-23-2003, 08:38 AM Thanks John,
It was a very big surprise.
Later,
Rick
