View Full Version : Celtics vs Phily
Saltheart 05-12-2012, 01:15 PM Starts tonight! I think we should beat these guys hands down. In fact it should be easier than the Atlanta series. Now the problem....we are the walking wounded. Between Pierce and Allen we lose a huge amount of court presence. I hope Pierce can spring back as he is the backbone of the team. Its too bad there wasn't a longer rest between series. 4 days instead of two could have made a big difference for both guys.
Anyway , I think we have the guns to make it to the next round.
Go Celtics!
like you said, the key is their health. if they are as slow as they were the last game of the Hawks series, I'm worried that the Sixers will run us off the court. Go Celts!
Saltheart 05-12-2012, 10:36 PM It wasn't pretty but there's 1 in the Win column.
Pierce is hurting bad. No rest for the weary though. Every other day schedule. Would be nice if somehow we could sit him down for a game.
Garnett really doing a great job stepping up.
Rondo again great but lots of turnovers.
What a horrific game to watch. Pierce should have got the ball for the 3 attempt instead of Ray. I will live and die with Paul all day long...
Saltheart 05-15-2012, 12:23 PM Unfortunately Pierce is all but dragging his leg up and down the court. You could see numerous times where his knee was "giving out" as he mistepped or tried to stop quick. I'm worried we lose him for the rest of the playoffs soon. I'm also worried he hurts it worse by playing, so that whole thing is not good.Forgot to add that with Pierce totally dragging his leg , Phily doesn't even bother to defend him. instead , garnett gets double teamed. What a mess! :(
We defintely should have won last night but that's the way the ball bounces.
Go Celtics
Yeah, Paul should've sat out the first game. He's hurting the team in the long run. But I still trust him more than anyone else on the team...
ProfessorM 05-15-2012, 09:02 PM I have watched a lot of B ball games over the years and that was the ugliest game I have ever wasted my time watching

it may be the reason for me being sick now. :yak6::yak6::yak6::sick::sick:
Saltheart 05-16-2012, 02:46 PM Yeah, Paul should've sat out the first game. He's hurting the team in the long run. But I still trust him more than anyone else on the team...
I don't know about game 1 but by game 2 he was so noticeably worse I am surprised they played him. Maybe with a 4 day stretch to recover he could make some progress. You got to really question the strategy of playing him when he's so gimped up. I mean I'm all for players palying with some injuries but if enduring the pain is for nothing because your legs just won't work then give him a game off.
I also still say Rondo has gone too far in the showboating direction. yes he is contributing a lot but all the razzle dazzle he's attempting is costing turnovers and his last minute shovel offs to up his assists tally is costing us layups he could just toss in.
Anyway , big game tonight! :)
Go Celtics
JackK 05-16-2012, 02:57 PM I'm not a basketball fan at all, but this has to be the best team song ever written.

Pete F. 05-16-2012, 05:04 PM All season long other guys have stepped up "when they had to", they need to do it now and give Pierce a break.
Rondo threads a fine line: spread the ball and they can't double team him when he goes to the basket, there is always the chance that he is going to hand it off and make you look stupid cuz he does a large % of the time.
ProfessorM 05-16-2012, 06:30 PM So far more excitement in first quarter than whole last game.

Saltheart 05-17-2012, 09:04 AM They could have beaten anybody last night!.
You know with Bosch hurt , this whole thing could get very interesting! :) I suppose we got to beat Phily before we worry about Miami but with losing their center , Miami could be vulnerable now.
Horrible friggin' loss. Doc's coaching has to be called into question, so many blunders. Why keep going to KG? Why leave Ray in the game and not put in Pietrus? What happened to Bass, did he get injured? And why the hell didn't they ride Pierce the rest of the game when he had it going!?! He could've had 30 easily. So friggin' frustrating :fury:
Saltheart 05-19-2012, 11:18 AM Yep , a real kick in the butt! I would have said it was impossible to lose that game but I watched it happen. Well anything goes now. We dropped an easy win and put the fire back into the sixers who were a beaten team. Really bad turn of events.
spence 05-19-2012, 03:30 PM It was painful to watch but Doc's coaching was nothing compared to that Little League game I just witnesses. Nearly broke my parents code of conduct.
Good thing my wife wasn't there, she would have stormed the field.

ProfessorM 05-19-2012, 08:24 PM Another terrible game. Both teams running around like chickens with their heads cut off. One nite world beaters next nite CYO basketball.
Saltheart 05-21-2012, 05:08 PM Tonights the big night! Thay've had an extra day of rest and the fats in the fire. Let's see if they've still got it! :)
Go Celtics
Karl F 05-21-2012, 06:09 PM Go C's.. (holding my breath, and hoping there is gas in the tank!)
Slipknot 05-21-2012, 06:17 PM need more defense
no Bradley is gonna hurt
they should be able to pull it out though
JohnR 05-22-2012, 06:40 AM Good game
Saltheart 05-23-2012, 04:48 PM Well so far its been two solid games (3+5) , two shaky games (1 and 2) and one horrible collapse of a game 4.
Pretty hard to say what's up for tonight! :)
I think the Celtics figured out how to beat Phily and put that plan into play game 5. I think we'll see a similar game tonight. Lets hope!
Go Celtics
Saltheart 05-24-2012, 09:18 AM Doesn't get much uglier than that! We had nothin!
Oh well , big game Saturday.
Go Celtics
fcap60 05-24-2012, 12:35 PM I'm a big CELTIC fan, but I think we could have found 5 guys on this forum and beaten them last night.:fury:
JohnnyD 05-24-2012, 01:17 PM Am I the only person who thinks that with the Lakers out, the Celtics might get some liberties from the refs during Game 7?
After reading Tim Donaghy's book and with all the other blatant favoritism in the NBA, it'd tough watch any of these games with anything but skepticism.
RIJIMMY 05-24-2012, 01:22 PM I'm a big CELTIC fan, but I think we could have found 5 guys on this forum and beaten them last night.:fury:
i agree. it was like rondo wasnt even there. I hope they were just tired and will rest for game 7
ProfessorM 05-24-2012, 07:06 PM this series has to be the worst display of basketball ever played, except for one game it has been real hard to watch. Ugly is an understatement.
Saltheart 05-26-2012, 11:50 AM Well its on Channel 6. Rondo always does well in games that are on network TV. :)
Go Celtics
Pete F. 05-26-2012, 10:11 PM Lets out a big breath, wipes his brow and settles back in his chair.
Saltheart 05-27-2012, 11:19 AM Now on to Miami. Too bad they got the long rest and we don't. Celts need a week off! :)
