Cleaning out my basement so we can remodel. It's all finished space so we lived in it and my home office was there.

I can't believe how much crap I have stuffed in every nook and cranny. Yes, I'm tossing as much as I can but we're moving carload after carload to a friends house as temp storage.

My wife doesn't want any of my junk going back in, bikes, tools, guitars, fishing stuff, luxury leather goods and clothes awaiting the tailor :hihi:

There is an epic battle looming.

Jeff .. Pick some things that you really don't care about keeping, but insist that you keep it... and then tell her you will compromise. Allow her to think she got you to ditch some stuff and then she can go on thinking she won the battle. B

I looked at the Pods and they're pretty expensive.

She's already declared my vintage Ampeg Portaflex bass amp is never coming in the house again. A jazz drummer friend has already offered to buy it and keep it for me so I don't have to part with it.

My road bike is not going to be stored outdoors.

Surf rods might be workable somewhere else. She hates them cause when I moved in my office was just shy of 10 feet wide so to keep things clean I just cut a hole in the wall :hihi:

When she says these things to you does she say 'my house' or 'our house'?

Spence I was so surprised by the amount of crap I had in my basement after the floods. Most of it should not have been there to begin with.

That still doesn't help with all the "stuff" but at least Spence will have a roof over his head!

I got a extra large dumpster a few years ago , filled it to the brim. Then last year the roofer only filled his dumpster 3/4 stripping my house so he let me finish filling that one to the brim.......I still have too much suff. Another full X-large dumpster load might do it if I treat the old furniture seperately. :)

Aside from my extensive array of culinary tools and my half of the closet pretty much everything else I own has been relegated to the basement. But now as it will be "nice" down there she's attempting to enforce the same standards as the main floor.

It's going to get ugly. Wait till she finds out about the new tv :hihi:

Rule of thumb, keep it and you'll never need it,
throw it out and you'll need it within the week. :hihi:

Spence, that is what garages are for. Store your stuff in there and park
your Mercedes CL 65 out in the driveway. :D

No garage and we have a dirt cellar...that's part of the problem.

Maybe it's time for a new house with more storage, or maybe a storage locker off site

We've certainly contemplated this. Unfortunately our house while small has a great view and optimal location for business travel. Also, I've gotten very used to our small mortgage.

I might be forced to get a small storage locker...but I ain't putting my good bike in it. Will have to investigate what these cost.

It is difficult to believe you entertain her with discussion in this regard. Does the term "grow a set" mean anything to you? Just asking.

her favorite picture. That will make a statement. :)

if you havent used something in a few years, get rid of it. No need for all the crap we accumulate.

My Bro-in-law just had his Monster-in-law move in with him. He's looking at renting an office over at the office park near him...they are hurting for tenants and they have small spaces that they rent for $100 a month. He says he is going to put his TV and Fridge over there and make it his man-cave.

he's also a self employed electrician so he can write it off as a business expense....since his MIL took his home office as her bedroom.

I have a giant retro French art print for Galaxy bicycles with a nude woman flying next to a turn of the century ride...I'd frame it if I could find the wall space.

I got the waterproof option with the vehicle.

Yes, I'm leery of the value proposition.

Been getting rid of a lot of stuff. Briefcases, rods etc...

Some things like guitars are hard because I know I'm going to want and pick them up sometime. The old Hagstrom could go.

Ultimately it still just comes down to a space issue, there just won't be enough room in the new basement for all this crap.

At least the TV will be larger :hihi:

I do whatever it takes to keep it fresh. Except for activities I consider to be Travolta-esque. If you enjoy the strap-on, don't tell the board.
