View Full Version : sluggos texas rigged
american spirit 06-09-2012, 09:41 AM does anyone fish the sluggos texas rigged some weights inserted at the head/ tail. or is the concensus the tandem rig with live bait/ octopus hooks.
thinking of texas rig for skinny water application to minimize hang ups
All i do is Texas rigged now.
The tandem is just too much work IMO. Besides, all that tailbook is good for is bloos. You get far better action with one hook as opposed to two hooks anyway.

what size hook for the 9".
basswipe 06-09-2012, 11:38 AM In agree with Nebe.
I fish a lot of different plastic around the eel grass beds near where I live.Sometimes the bass are tight up against the beds so I started Texas rigging.Unfortunately I have not found a decent saltwater grade worm hook that is truly saltwater grade.
AL617 06-10-2012, 06:03 AM Reaction strike plasma point.they come unweighted too. Up to 12/0

PI guy 06-12-2012, 01:36 PM Owner beast hooks work the nuts, 8/0 for 9" Sluggos...they're a bit pricey, but the $ you'll save on buying Sluggos will make up for it. Much less tearing than you get with 2 hook Sluggos.

Liv2Fish 06-12-2012, 05:45 PM Red top has some sweet "worm" hooks. I forget the brand but they're right in front of you as you walk in the door, on the isle devider, just past the canal buck tails. They're big enough to rig a 14" Hogeyb and strong as hell.
