I've checked the "remember me" box, but still have to enter my user name to log on.

Acutally, I start typing my user name, and then it populates the user name & password fields. But these used to stay populated, and I only had to click the "log on" button.

The remember me box is only for the times after you log in this time

or simply use google chrome and let it do the job of pass word retrieval and entry

Not sure which browser you're using, but IE, has an option that deletes browsing history on exit. You may have that enabled if the other suggestions did not work.
