Came back from a week in Truro. Many thanks to all here who were considerate enough to take the time to offer suggestions, which were needed as it was my first time on the Cape.
Truro was really nice, quiet, laid back. Ocean beaches I thought, were awesome. First Encounter in Eastham was a magical place for the kids at low tide, what a place.
Our house was right on the bay in Truro, just north of Corn Hill Beach. Saw zero signs of fish there, and we spent a lot of time on that beach. Saw a jetty south of us that was the border for a beautiful little inlet or river, looked like good structure but never fished it.
Thanks to a tip from l.i. fish vermont, my son and I did a charter with Rich from Nelsons B&T in Provincetown. Hands down the nicest, most kid friendly captain I have ever met. We were surrounded by bass all day. My son landed, with Rich's help, 2 keepers, one around 22 pounds. If someone gives me an email address, I'd love to email a pic to someone who knows how to upload one. I tried and it failed, looks like the jpg file is too big?. Not savvy with these things.
Also, on Capt Rich's recommendation, the whole family did a 2-hour lobster cruise with a captain named Chris Townsend. Kids loved seeing what was in the pots. I cannot recommend this trip enough.
Food - thanks to Johnny D for recommending Savory in Truro - pizza, sandwiches, ice cream was all awesome.
Thanks to JohnR for suggesting the fish hatchery in Sandwich, kids loved feeding the huge trout.
Thanks to whoever sugested the Chatham Fish Pier...kids (and Dad) loved watching the boats unload their catch, and loved watching the seals swim around the boats.
What a magical place. Cannot wait to get back someday...
