Saltheart 07-12-2012, 08:59 PM Lawmakers Want 'Made in China' U.S. Olympic Uniforms Burned - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/lawmakers-want-made-china-u-olympic-uniforms-burned-174456466--abc-news-politics.html)
What were they thinking?? :fury:
Raven 07-12-2012, 10:01 PM who says they know how to think?
JohnR 07-13-2012, 07:56 AM Yes. Dumb. With the follow on dumb next order of effects.
The hypocrisy of this country is astounding..Something as significant as a stupid Olympic uniform calls for public outcry but then everything else being purchased by the general public that is made in China by shopping at Walmart etc. is completely acceptable and encouraged just makes no sense

BigBo 07-13-2012, 08:53 AM I think there should be more of an outcry because the Olympic Uniforms are extremely ghey looking. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v129/bospa/supergay.gif
JohnnyD 07-13-2012, 09:01 AM This is right up there with the whole "Freedom Fries" and "Freedom Toast" bs that Washington got involved with years back. Nothing to see here but desperate pandering because it's an election year.

It is a start and it shouldn't end there but it will. Some of us do make an effort to purchase things made here.
FishermanTim 07-13-2012, 11:54 AM The "powers that be" did everything they could to encourage this to happen, and now they want to join the "USA" bandwagon and hitch a ride with real Americans.
Definitely just pandering to the public for the "We're with you all the way" sympathy vote.
Saltheart 07-13-2012, 12:58 PM Regardless of who jumps on the badwagon afterwards , some moron made a bad decision upfront to go cheap and get out of country made uniforms. The US Olympic team should be dressed in Made in USA clothing and it should be the best available quality.
Countries spend billions to host the Olypics to promote their nations images on a world wide basis. We can't even give them uniforms made here in the USA?
There are some dumb A$$ people in this world making decisions who have no clue as to the implications of those decisions.
I can just hear the discuusion on these uniforms when the deal was made....."Oh so what if they're made in China..look how pretty they are."
striperman36 07-13-2012, 01:03 PM Romney did it
Raider Ronnie 07-13-2012, 04:41 PM Maybe they should put up a stick about all the Americam flags & Government Motors parts being manufactured on China while they are at it !

You want to talk hypocrisy, or tell me why something like the mans olympic uniform which is made in china, can be had for close to $1500.00, and the woman's, $1000.00. These were the prices they gave on the Good day show or something like that, but I bet it only cost about $200.00 to make each uniform. All of that, and they charge prices like t was made on Seville row, and they big guy pockets it all...

And to think people bitch about paying a decent living wage in this country..... :uhuh:

you're quite right Paul.... it didn't....he just gets my goat is all
and when the two word phrase "desperate pandering" was written
my launch button got pushed- sorry
~
on another note.... when viewing the video about the uniforms they showed people in the background sewing....
they looked to be chinese Americans... to me...
so what's the difference really? sewn by Chinese there or sewn by Chinese Americans here....
i watched a breakdown of the prices on those uniforms and the sticker price was absolutely shocking! like 2500 bucks per uniform
PaulS 07-14-2012, 10:52 AM The news last night had a bunch of US manuf. who said that they could make parts of the outfits by the Olympics if given the chance. The committee or Lauren should have recognized the symbolism and had them here.
