Do the Fin Nor Ahab spinning reels have a "baitrunner" feature? If not, what is the purpose of the lever on the bottom of the spool? (It's not the anti-reverse control; that's on the top.) Also, has the quality of these products deteriorated in the past few years, since they have been manufactured "offshore" as Fin Nor puts it (actually in Bangladesh)? Thanks in advance for yer responses. Hooah.

I can't answer your question, but noticed your nickname. Are you at C-MU now? I graduated in '81.

Nah, I don't/didn't attend your alma mater. It's just a humorous (slightly) nickname. I have performed carnage (massive slaughter, per Webster's) on a few melons, while using them for target practice. Can't believe no one has knowledge of or opinions on the Fin Nor Ahabs. I see a lot of them in use.

Oh Destroyer of Mellons, I did some looking on the web but did not find any info on a bait runner on the Ahabs, I was unable to find a web site for them either. Give Mike at http://CapeCodTackle.com a lookup as he carries several makes of reels not listed on the "E-Fishing" part of his site. He may have the answer for you.
Probably half the anglers on this board use conventional reels almost exclusively but several people I fish with that use the Ahabs are, for the most part, pretty satisfied with them. The ones that weren't had a smaller model but I don't know any more detail than that...

Thanks for the tip, John. BTW, this is a nice board. Congratulations. I read about it in a thread about Cowboy Dave on surftalk, FYI. Man, can't even keep up with that one.
