Sent a friend on a mission as long as he was headed to VT. Seems like the word is out. All sold out everywhere, even the brewery itself. Very disappointing.

One of (if not THE) best IPA's I've ever had. Last time I was there I bought 16 and it went way too fast.

Hey, new here, but not new to HT... heading to Burlington next weekend... anyone in CT want me to pick a couple up for them? I have been struggling to figure out a way to make a name for myself on this site... this might be a good way...

This all rests, of course, on them actually having it available when I get up there

Hi Scratch

I am in the Hartford area and will take some. As much as is reasonable seeing as a bunch of folks are looking for some. I can help distribute to others not local too if you need assistance.

Was at the dog park last night and talked to a couple that toured a bunch of places while their son was at hockey camp at Norwich and they picked up a case at the brewery. Did not seem willing to share though.

I will be "on island" next week, so I will not be able to pick up for a bit.

Let me know what is going on when you can.

I am leaving Saturday morning for Burlington. I am going to assess the situation (available quantity and cost) when I get there and I will post here. I don't know what it comes in (4/6/12 packs) as I have only had people get me a few cans at a time in the past.

Nebe, I fish the RI shore pretty regularly, I'm sure we can arrange something that doesn't require postage.

Does anyone have some answers to the logistical stuff I posted here? How much is it, how many come to a "pack", how is the availability in the fall?

I should be able to get a bunch, but I want to keep expectations in check until I know there is a bunch to be "got"

Maybe I'll shoot a note to the brewery.

I am hearing it is priced about $3.50 per can, but you can get cases. The most important logistic may be that they can on Monday and Thursday, and so you may want to be there first thing on Tuesday or Friday. There are also some stores about VT that will have some, a list of which are at the Alchemist web site.

I had a heady topper last night after meeting up with Scratch.... Honestly, I dont think that this beer is as good as everyone hypes it up to be. I think the biggest thing this beer has going for it is the fact that its brewed in a 7 barrel set up and they dont make that much of it, so if you can get it, you have made a major score. I found that it is over hopped to the point that it is in a class all by its own.. perhaps it should really be called a triple IPA??
I had a firestone Walker 'Union Jack IPA' tonight with dinner.. I think that beer blows the Heady Topper out of the water...

That being said, I am psyched i got to try the Heady. Scratch that one off the list.....:uhuh:

The Union Jack IPA is world class and not that hard to get.

My favorite true double IPA is Ghandi Bot. It's sick...

My concern with small volume batches is it's harder to maintain quality. It's great one time then 6 months later not so good.

I bottled up 5 gallons of saison last weekend :)

Yes, I did drink it from the can. They want you to do that for 2 reasons.. Firstly, they do t want you to see any hops residue floating around..( I have no issue with that). But secondly the beauty of the can is that as the beer is opened and the co2 is released from suspension of the beer, it keeps the oxygen out. Oxygen will effect the flavor of your beer if you take a while to drink it.

It's 12.99 for a 4 pack of 1 pint cans or 72 bucks for a case of 24...not including tax.

I think availability is really hit or miss. They were out early this week, started canning Thursday and were out by 3pm Friday. I'd like them on FB as they seem to update their beer production there.

Fortunately a business meeting this week had me at a hotel about a mile down the road. Nobody seemed to mind as I slipped out for a quick conference call :hihi:

I picked up some extra if anyone local to East Bay, RI is interested. It's not the holy grail but is certainly damn good beer.

After dinking several in a row tonight...*hic*...I think the cool thing about this beer is that Benthic habitats have features that make them acoustically distinct. A benthic habitat will respond to sound waves differently depending on surface hardness and complexity, and these responses, or backscatter intensities, can be used to identify habitat boundaries.

Sorry....

This beer is a really big session beer. It's not supposed to be that killer Imperial IPA that's so over the top. It's a beer you can drink a number of. In that respect it is a bit unique...

Went to the cannery yesterday and finally got to taste. Honestly I have drifted away from the IPAs and maybe that is why I feel the way I do but I could not see what all this craziness was all about. Was it good? Yes. Do I think its so good I would do anything to get my hands on it? no...

Hey I know to each there own and everyone has different tastes but it didnt blow me away or anything. Again I thought it was good, I just personally didn't think it was so out of this world it was worth all the hype I have been hearing about.

I was only able to try on tap BTW. Cans were sold out and they would not be canning again for a few days they said.
