View Full Version : Sobering
Raider Ronnie 07-27-2012, 09:35 AM Called a friend earlier this am and he starts balling crying on the phone.
His wife (49) went to the doctor about a week ago complaining about a pain in her back and thinking she hurt something in the back.
Week later finds out lung & pancreatic cancer and doc says she's got about 6 months.
Clammers line "enjoy what you have" is sounding so true today !
Only good thing is they don't have any kids.
RIJIMMY 07-27-2012, 10:17 AM wtf, sorry to hear that ronnie.
life is way to short.
FishermanTim 07-27-2012, 10:45 AM What is REALLY sobering is that stories like this are becoming more and more common, and the people that are affected tend to have led a clean and healthy lifestyle with no vices that could have caused their demise.
When they say something hit them "out of the blue", they aren't kidding!!!
Not to sound morbid or completely negative, but how many times do you hear about someone that completely abused their body with all manner of vice succumbing to those vices?
Seems like the scales of fairness in life are tilted in the wrong direction. Too many good people are being taken while too many "less-than-stellar" people are living longer.
It definitely make a God fearing person begin to have doubts in their faith.
I hope for the best possible outcome for your friend, whatever that may be.
For the record, when my father died from cancer in 2001, my mother and I were grateful that he passed as quickly as he did, as the longer he lingered the more he would had suffered.
Rememer that when we pray to our God for help, it may not be the answer we wanted, but rather the one that we NEEDED.
That is why I pray for the best possible outcome.
Raider Ronnie 07-27-2012, 10:56 AM This woman never smoked a day in her life, no drugs, worked out, ran marathons .......

ProfessorM 07-27-2012, 11:07 AM Sorry to hear this. I was thinking about this situation just a week or so ago. Very scary and sobering. Luckily I got good news and feel for this woman and her husband. I will keep her in my prayers

BigFish 07-27-2012, 11:28 AM So sorry to hear this Ron. My best to your friends. Reasons like this are why I try to never put things off or worry about silly BS. Life is too short for sure. "Enjoy what you have" is so very true.

That's what I mean.
It used to be that someone with that approach to life would live a very long time and enjoy every second of it.
Now it's like the tables are turned and the healthy individuals are suffering from things that you wouldn't expect in a million years and the completely reckless people are living past 100.
Sometimes it makes me wonder, and then I remember that nothing in this world, nor in our lives is guarateed except that we are born and we will die.
I am sorry for your friend and more importantly his wife.
I would like to believe that there is a special place in heaven dedicated to those that suffered in life, and passed way too early.
