I am getting a feeling that Facebook has hurt fishing sites like SB (and others). It seems the number of good posts seems to be dropping. Is it me or is it just summer?

Despite the great run of fish in the Canal so far this year, I still think the bass are in trouble, and I'm giving them a break. And working on improving myself, health-wise. iamskippy 07-31-2012, 09:19 AM Skippy will work for Twinkies. :rotflmao: Bob you know me all to well. People tend to refer to Facebook like it's a "place" to go to to meet people, when it is more like a black hole that removes you from society. Those that spend most of their time online doing things other than work are literally losing their intelligence. Knowlegde and social skills are being replaced with "inst-facts" and online friends, which removes you from what makes you intelligent......the ACT of learning! I REFUSE to join Facebook or any online gathering site because it removes me from actually going out to meet people, removes moral barriers (people say whatever they want thinking that no one else will know what they said.) and in my view, turns people into self-described cyber kings! No, Facebook may not be destroying this site, but it's creating a generation of cyber-morons that won't have a clue about fishing or boating, which will start the ball rolling. Thankfully there are plenty of intelligent people that still favor this site (as well as others) with their input and contributions. Think about how many times you hear , or have heard younger people say "How did you do that?" while doing something you learned about fishing as a kid? OK, the soapbox is free now! Rockfish9 07-31-2012, 12:00 PM never gonna see me on Face book.. my space or any other clown social media site..I get all the enterrainment and news about things that matter here and I even have made a few friends to boot.. F.B.s just another fad that will fade in time... GattaFish 07-31-2012, 12:09 PM F.B.s just another fad that will fade in time... Wall St. Thinks it already has...... Rockport24 07-31-2012, 04:10 PM the fact that people like Joe are not on facebook just speaks volumes for why it will never destroy sites like this.. If you are new in the fishing game and are looking to learn and aren't on these forums you are really doing yourself a disservice. FishermanTim 07-31-2012, 05:15 PM My OLDER brother is on Facebook, and when he's talking with mutual friends on the phone he'll say things like "Oh, Tim's not on Facebook" like it's some "special" club with exclusive membership perks. I then correct him and say "I don't have Facebook, I have Phonebook, so I can CALL MY FRIENDS instead of sharing every worthless piece of drivel from my daily life online!!! That usually shuts him up! BigFish 07-31-2012, 06:46 PM I still love it here! Its still great! However F-B allows me to rant un-edited and only include those I choose to include.....and if I have a problem with you....buh-bye!! :uhuh: spence 07-31-2012, 07:02 PM Im pretty sure this site started going downhill the moment I joined.
