Think the constant fishing pressure has caused the tuna to move. Today no love in my boat so Chefchris and ThrowingTimber will have to wait for an other trip. Everything was there for hookup except the proverbial dumb fish! Had birds working and tuna jumping in the area. Only reports today were 2 rec sized, 42&49" boated during a double hookup and 2 comm, one 121". Must have been nearly 75 boats today!

Not even the For2na could manage a fish today, shadowed Greg for a while hoping the Master would lead us to good fortune!

Even Run&Gun Capt Dom did mostly running and looked empty handed back @GH.

And there's the problem. We had exactly the same thing Saturday morning - birds, tons of bait, whales. Marked tuna way down deep but with 100 boats on the water, we heard of only one or two hookups. We took the wives on a pleasure cruise Sunday to whale watch and rode past a boat hooked into a fish for 30+mins on what looked like a Penn 80. Exact same conditions. The difference? Maybe saw 5 or 6 boats fishing Sunday.

Headcam view solves that issue, I was experimenting with fixed mount but might try the head gear?

The "chesty" chest harness is pretty good, it seems to take a more stable picture than the head mount. I messed around with them both durning ski season and have caught a few bluefish blitzes also. It gives you a nice view with the reel right at the bottom of the shot. Would be awesome to see and hear the tuna peeling drag.

Did you happen to see the crazy kayaker on Saturday? I couldn't believe my eyes when the guy was paddling around the tuna fleet. I don't know what would scare me more - the whales or actually hooking up with a tuna.

He's been out there a few Saturdays in a row now.

Picked up one yesterday between 90-100# but I troll plastic and ballyhoo, one other knock down but that was it. I was east. Saw a couple other boats hook up but it was not hot and heavy.

A pretty quiet day but at least I ate good last night and I will be the hero at the cocktail party this evening with my tuna ceviche. ;)

The day before I spent south looking for a skillie. I pounded it hard but did not come across one, conditions were great, and there were large schools of 4" bait going unmolested. A small mahi was choking on a trolled ballyhoo. Saw a number of free jumping makos out there...maybe I should spend a day seeking them, I know my kids would like that.

Two days, little sleep, and a lot of miles covered...I am now in recovery mode. I don't know about you but my digestive system goes into a shut-down mode when I go offshore for long stretches. I eat and eat and piss but that is all. When I get home and shower...then the bed and the toilet becomes my friend as we re-asquint ourselves with one and other.

Assuming it's the same kayaker - he's been a fixture out there for more then a few years. Not quite a regular but not uncommon either.

No love again today Thurs 8.9. Very foggy until about 10am and 4 rec sized fish picked up at morning low tide, 2 by G Sears. I was in the very near vicinity of For2na both times but no luck. After the fog broke, and shortly after noon birds started working a school of ~125lb fish (est. from Labrador). 3 boats trolled bars over&over again through the school and nothing! I switched to run&gun, casting various colored RonZ's. We had the school in our sites and near enough to the boat to see the fish several times, nada. After about an hour of teasing these fish and not making a lot of friends by R&G tactics, we left for the day empty handed. The charter/headboats made numerous passes with bars and nada!

I was pleasantly surprised, after about 75 boats on Tuesday there were definitely much lower numbers, maybe 30? May have been more lost in the fog!

Bars don't always do it and neither do ronz's some days. You should add a rigged ballyhoo/islander and and a deep diver plug rigged for tuna to the spread. If that still fails, pull into the school and drop a butterfly on them.

And of course, you can always use a depth charge and pick up what floats to the surface.

Look at the bright side: at least you saw them.

Here's the rigs, made a blue and a pink one. Artificials work but sometimes you wish you had the fresh, real McCoy (pic from the FishingFreak)!

you might want to add a crome head to your mix, or a head start set up. They seem to stay in the water better and swim nicer, not to mention they don't wash out as fast.

The head start (by wannabe?) thing I tried in the canyons once and they are really easy and fast to rig and the bait swims perfect...like a sabile and stays in the water It was pounded. They are kind of hard to find so if you see them grab a few.

We saw the kayaker a couple weeks back. I dunno if it's the same guy, but 2 years ago, when it was lock and load fishing, there was a yakker who landed a few fish. One towed him about 8 miles. I believe he was a toursit from Chicago. (and a dumbass)

He has landed a fish before. He now has a film crew following him, or at least they are talking about making a show out of it. He is permitted and is doing it by the rules. The bitch is not getting out there but getting back...

that guy in the kayak is a friend of a guy I work with most likely. He has caught quite a few tuna's and has been towed for miles sometimes. Told me he has had to paddle for hours to get home and has even had to tape his hands to the paddles as his hands were so wrecked from fish fighting and paddling that it was the only way for him to muster the energy to get home. Guy is going to be filmed by some tv type show my friend told me. Seems crazy to me though. Sorry for redundant info I just read above about the tv crap.

we fished all day last wednesday and thursday with a big fat goose-egg..... never saw any real signs of life (except basking sharks) wherever we went. fished shallow to "deep" (out to 350 ft or so- ) didn't make a difference
