RI is setting up a program to get people on Obama care. OK , that's the new law. But when people go down to the Health Insurance Exchange , the state also plans to test everyone to see if they can get them on any other social programs the state has. The people don't even have to know the program exist! Everyone will be means tested to get them on every give away program that exists. One Stop Shoping for welfare programs.

Go in for health insurance and walk out with money from every program the state can qualify you for. All orchestrated and conducted by none elected welfare department Admins.

The whole state is going broke and yet a family of 4 with a $92K income will be eligible for food stamps.

Maybe its time to stop fighting it and just hop into the pork barrel as part of the problem with everyone else until the well goes dry?

92k is poverty when you subtract child alimony of outside househould of $3800 will begin qualification threshold limit. Now subtract $2000 a mortgage, taxes will get a family of four about $283 per month and more if paying for child care for under two.

No, I believe for a family of 4 to qualify for food stamps in RI it's more like $46K. For a single parent about 21K.

They could have other criteria, but that's 185% of poverty level which I believe the state uses.

Sorry , its health care subsidies at $92K for a family of 4 that will be offered as part of theHealth Care Exchanges. On top of that the Health Exchange forms will contain all the questions nescessay to qualify for all other state subsidies programs.

Come on down and sign up for Obamacare and while you're here we'll look for every way possible to qualify you for all the other welfare programs the state and federal government offers. Don't know about all the programs and income limits to qualify....don't worry , we'll advise you on how to anwere the questionaire so that you can maximize your participation in state and federal entitlement programs.

No family of 4 with income of $92,000 should get public assistance for anything. At that point, you're taking public money to buy an ipad or something.

$46k for a family of 4? Maybe I can see that...$92k is a very comfortable salary for a family of 4, anywhere in Rhode Island...

But because I don't... I didnt have 4 kids. It astounds me that there are people out there who have more kids to earn more money on their welfare checks.

One problem in this country is the definition of poor. Poor in this country means two cars, a place to live and a cell phone and a bunch of kids they can't afford and expect the state to educate.

It is time to TAKE BACK ENTITLEMENTS. That is right. SS is not a retirement program. Health care is to be paid for by those that require it.

I want to help the truly needy but the clueless and lazy can and should go without. Starvation is a powerful motivator. Sorry, if you did not plan to retire with a comfortable nest egg, then you need to work till you drop. This should be a lesson that your kids will learn and not make the same mistake. You should have saved and not just voted for those that promise hand outs.
