Thinking back the last several years to when we started picking up fresh schoolies (at least not river holdovers) in Rhody and it has been as early as St Patty's Day and as late as the end of the first week of April. The good news means that we might start dueling with the little fish as soon as 6 weeks from now but probably within 8 weeks the little rods will be curled over with one or two tiny schoolies at a time. Certainly not a night in October when you hook up a on a couple trains but I always tremendously enjoy that first spring day of tossing tiny jigs at The West Wall.

So, what does this mean other than torture/anticipation? You are running out of time to get ready for those first few fish. Make sure your reels are ready or get them in the shop NOW, otherwise, you'll see them in May and that's just too late...

Might even try out the Long Wand this year 8)

This is killing me but I can't wait to get out there.

I'm hoping to start my season earlier down there, not that it ever ended and need someone to clue me in on the RI regs. What are the regs (start date, length limit, bag) for residents and non-residents if different?

Thanks and tight lines.

I was looking for the specific regs earlier because of Saltheart's post below but I haven't had the chance to locate it. Some of my resarch at home indicated that because of Addendum V of the SBMP, Rhody was going to drop the April through November no posession rules. We always through them back in the past even when the first keeper came through... Other than the dates, you can have two fish over 28 inches, no slot limit...
