what are the different applications for;

Not aware of any such critter as a 121 1M Maybe you mean a graphite 120 1L or 1M?

121 3M---meduim power E-glass blank, rated for 3-6 oz but can handle 8. Good for chunks, big plugs and jigs. Available in both honey yellow and black.

121 5M--pool cue heavy power blank, think it's rated 6-16 oz, good for throwing 8 oz and a whole squid and landing the odd barge if your cast gets away from you. I think they only make it in yellow now.

yeah, I meant a 120 1L or 1M. Are these glass or graphite ? And what is their application?

Mike is right on with the above post as for the 1M & 1L
The 1L is a great rod for medium size plugs does not like to pop the pig Polaris type to good, but good eel rod

The 1M is a canal type rod that handles the bigger plugs and jigs great :D

120 1 L is a most excellent graphite rod. Can be built spinner or conventional and will handle 1 to 5 really well. A very popular rod for guys who have just one rod.

what kind of reel for conventional?

12 different guys may give you 6 different reels to use. what reel you use for that rod has a lot to do with what you plan on fishing, how you plan on fishing, and personal preference towards reels. some love there shimano calcuttas, such as the 400 series. some love ambassadeurs in the 6500 and 7000/7500 series. if you plan on fishing larger lures and bait, around heavy structure, then go w/ an abu in the 7000/7500 series or shimano 700 for their line capacity. if you plan on throwing lighter lures and bait and you will fish braid or lighter line, go w/ a calcutta 400 or abu 6500-type reel.

and id like to have a nice rod reel set up that i can depend on ive looked at your specials mike and came up with the nautil 7500p and the 10 ft lami on the bottom #49 you say 1-3 but more like 5 that sounds like what i need for versatility seeing ill only have the one rod you guys know more about surf rods im trying to get a good new outfit for 250.00 or so hows all that sound any comments would be appreciated thanks!!

That Lami Triflex that Mike is selling looks really great for the money. I shook a couple of those and if I needed a versatile 10' rod, I would pick one up. I looks like you could fish bait and plugs if you wanted to with that rod.

I have 2 of the small yellow nautils and I love them. The 7500 would work well with that rod.

I have the 1201L in both spinning and conventional . I use abu 7000 series reels ( 7000c3 , 7000 cl , 7200( european ) , 7000 pro rocket ) on the conventional and nautil 7500 and a tica dolphin 9000 on the spinner . can handle 1 to 5 real nicely . I seldom throw more than 4 on this rod only cause I dont fish in 5oz waters with these rods .

i put the stradic 6000 on that lami with braid and i can cast now. what a difference good stuff makes. i was throwing light plugs and 4oz lead with seaworm and it sails out there just wish it wasnt so windy today caught 2 schoolies down the canal thanks for your help today mike!!
