View Full Version : Off the hook; Extreme catches
Liv2Fish 08-23-2012, 09:49 PM Just caught the tail end of a comercial for this show. There were two dudes skishing and holding up a decent bass. Looked like Ri coast. Sunday@ 8:00
Tonight's show is sailfish off of home made rafts. Last week was thresher sharks off a paddle board.
These guys are whacked. TruTv meets OTW!
bobber 08-23-2012, 09:55 PM he's fishing with Melnyk- likely off MTK though.
( I saw the commercial with the guy standing in a bright red marble bag with a spinning rod in his hand.....) aacckk
chefchris401 08-23-2012, 10:01 PM I thought he was skishing with the guy who got thrown out of his own club?

I will be avoiding that episode. Not saying anything. Just don't care to see that episode. I am sure it will be entertaining. It is not Melnyk in the episode.

JohnR 08-24-2012, 07:14 AM Will have to see, regardless of characters involved. I saw the one with the paddle boarding for sharks - thinking Roy would have done that with a SpongeBob :uhuh:
tysdad115 08-24-2012, 07:44 AM I watched the first few minutes of a couple episodes, the host just seems like an ass. Couldn't stand to watch any more of it.

Agreed. At the end of last nights episode he said, " I'm 10 miles off the coast in a raft, I battled a sailfish for an hour and won, I promised my parrents that I wouldn't cry but I think I might, I have to poop" :smash:
Thanks for sharing but I didn't need to know that....
FishermanTim 08-24-2012, 09:56 AM To top it all off, the guy is/was a pro wrestler on TNT.
Apparently his personality out of the ring isn't mush different from in the ring.
Bottom line: he's about as interesting as Charlie Moore (and we all know how we feel about Charlie "moron" Moore!)
To paraphrase an old movie quote: "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do that thing!"
" I'm 10 miles off the coast in a raft, I battled a sailfish for an hour and won, I promised my parrents that I wouldn't cry but I think I might, I have to poop" :smash:
I actually chuckled a little when I read this... didn't catch the show, but that line is pretty funny

WESTPORTMAFIA 08-26-2012, 07:34 PM That's a 25-30 pound bass!!! Really? On national tv? So that means the 73 pounder was no more than 35 real pounds. LMFAO

I should introduce him to my fishing partner. They estimate the size of their fish the same way.:grins:

That's exactly what I was thinking!
Now if they would rebroadcast all/any shows with Larry Dahlberg, THAT would be really worth watching!!!!

caught this last night with Candi, I was making windons and had the show on for back ground noise. I hear her saying thats BULL#^&#^&#^&#^&! thats a 15# fish! I was in tears I was laughing so hard.
I loved the trebles half a foot from the wrestler dudes face. And the leashes well we all know how I feel about rod leashes.
but yeah ed sells tackle: bucktails, rods etc at the flea market near my place candi and I ran into him there one day.
the point 08-27-2012, 11:08 AM Fished with you know who many times...always crying conservation C&R.. Any fish he ever caught while I seen him was ever Released, He caught some high teen low 20lb fish one time...and wanted to pose with them on the rock while me and westport took pictures..kept em both(not breaking no laws so I could care less) But they started out as 20's on one site and made there way to 40's in a few weeks on another.
We all know about him...
A Gunny 30...lol...CLASSIC
As For other things
Saw it last night - wasn't impressed. Actually the bass appeared to be hooked on the eel but when he grabbed it looked like it was hooked to the Northbar. That made me think the whole show was staged.

Yup, fishing with eels and the "monster" he pulled in was on a Northbar BD in yellow mac!(btw, good color for canal) For someone that was an athlete/actor he is pretty uncoordinated too.
luv2flyfish 08-27-2012, 03:19 PM very boring show best part was the zzzzzzzzbassssss
Fish_Eye 08-29-2012, 07:56 PM I'm glad to see you guys aren't part of the dumbing down of the American audience and you want to see quality productions that have some understanding and reverence for this sport...that's not saying there can't be humor involved.
I think back to the original American Sportsman, Walker's Cay, and The Spanish Fly and I know the work that went into making those shows and I also respect the talent that was in front of the camera.
Next week I'll be shooting and doing some directing for a new fishing show that's in the making...I hope I can deliver quality content that entertains, educates and captures the beauty and excitement that keeps us in this game. I'll keep you posted.

Mike if it is anything like some of the talent you have worked with in the past it will be great.
