View Full Version : ASA Tourney june 6-8th Rip Runner 05-28-2003, 04:36 PM Anyone fishing the ASA tournament out of Point Judith RI June 6-8th? MakoMike 05-29-2003, 07:14 AM Rip, I don't know anything about it. Can you provide details, please? Rip Runner 05-29-2003, 07:21 AM It's the first of 3 tourney's for division 2 of the American Striper Association tournament trail. There are 4 divisions from VA to MA . You can also find more information at www.fishasa.com. JohnR 05-29-2003, 07:36 AM We have a few people here that fish mainly the Mass Tourneys - maybe next year for me... Van 05-29-2003, 12:48 PM I fished the MA one couple of years ago. IMO it is too intense, lots of competition and it takes the fun out of fishing. I won't do another, I prefer the local small tourny's that are more about having a good time, meeting people, and NOT about $$$$$. Mostly they are a great excuse (to give the misses) to fish for 3 days straight. Again just MHO..... MakoMike 05-29-2003, 12:57 PM Guys, I've done the bog time tournament thing and that's not what I'm looking for. I think I'll give it a pass. If I want to get intense I'll go to mid-atlantic $500,000. :laughs: devils fiddle 06-02-2003, 10:57 AM Team Devils Fiddle will fish the ASA division 2 opener next week. Entry fee is $250 per boat. This includes the raffle on friday night with food and beer and entry into the two day tourney. You can only way in one fish per day and its the biggest fish of the two days that counts for the team. There are some serious fisherman involved but for the most part its a good time and some good friendly competition. Its also a great excuse to fish like mad for a whole weekend. Oh yeah, you could a 24' proline, $10,000, and win some flouro in the raffle friday night. 179 06-02-2003, 11:46 AM devils, Best of luck in the tourny. Wish I could fish it, but it's the better halfs weekend on..... Scotch Bonnet 06-08-2003, 12:57 PM I see Devils Fiddle was in 2nd place as of saturday. Going down to see the weigh in today. KJLane 06-08-2003, 04:09 PM what are the ASA tournaments in Mass? Any details would be appreciated. Thanks! BasicPatrick 06-09-2003, 01:13 PM Congradulations Kevin and all...see you soon Team Rock On 06-09-2003, 03:39 PM Thanks BP. Susan has worked hard these past few years, heck we even let her handle a rod every now and then. :D It was kinda funny as we had just boated a 44 lb'er and Bob and myself were admiring it and getting ready to ice it and prepare the boat for the run to PJ. Susan had been on mackeral jigging duty when she noticed there were no rods in the water so she grabbed a mackeral, bit it in half (Bobby showed her that trick) and tossed it out. Well about 5 minutes later she asked if someone could give her a hand or just cut the line so we could get going. We laughed a bit and gave her some encouragement until finally the fish turned and showed her head. No more laughing but she had the fish beat at that point. We slid it into the net and it weighed 46 lbs., 46". The other fish was 44 lb, 46" also. I won't even get into the one that got away about a half hour earlier. At least she rolled a couple of times to give me a glimpse before she gave me my shiny new hook back! I have no doubt it was a 50+. I guess that's why I'm heading out again tonight after spending 24 hours on the water this weekend! Maybe I'll see you about 1 mile southeast of.......Mike knows. PS I just confirmed that they will be giving away a 200HP Merc at the Monahans tourney in Aug. Sharpen your hooks!
