View Full Version : Masterlure Rocket Sgt Striper 09-01-2012, 11:20 AM Thanks Chris!! BigFish 09-01-2012, 12:25 PM Looks awesome! You nailed it! Can't quite be sure but a little heads up....only cut your lip slot deep enough to fit the lip! You really want it set back against the slot so it remains stable and straight! Looks like the widening taper of the body is simply eclipsing the width of the lip at the body! Love the body.....nice work! Get that sucker painted!! chefchris401 09-01-2012, 12:36 PM looks great lou, ill send you the other bodies this week, there just sitting around, use them if you want over the winter, theres a masterlure jointed, some capt bill stuff, goo goo eyes stuff, smaller masterlure snook i think, and some others. there all beaters so no need to worry about the paint if you want to check weighting the master lure jointed is crazy, i need to throw the one i refinished more. numbskull 09-01-2012, 04:16 PM Looks like you'll need to rebend the lip if you are trying to stay true to the original action. What sort of weight do they carry? Sgt Striper 09-01-2012, 09:34 PM Looks like you'll need to rebend the lip if you are trying to stay true to the original action. What sort of weight do they carry? No weight in the original at all, but I did weight it, Lip that is in it is a Pikie 4, just a tad wider but I have some unbent ones that will be reshaped to the original. It will get a Masterlure paint job!! chefchris401 09-01-2012, 09:57 PM Looks like you'll need to rebend the lip if you are trying to stay true to the original action. What sort of weight do they carry? like lou said no weight at all but it had 3-5/0 trebles on it when i got it, original hardware, even the old rusted hooks were hard to bend open, very thick and heavy. And how about posting some of the beauties you have done lately, those are some sweet repro's!! like lou said no weight at all but it had 3-5/0 trebles on it when i got it, original hardware, even the old rusted hooks were hard to bend open, very thick and heavy. Amazing how many of the makers relied on hook size and weight to get their plugs to swim. Sgt Striper 09-07-2012, 03:21 PM Almost done! And look, I finally bought a scale, digital too...wonders never cease BigFish 09-07-2012, 05:46 PM Awesome! Awesome! Sgt Striper 09-10-2012, 08:55 AM Done! needs a better tail hook! chefchris401 09-10-2012, 01:49 PM Done! needs a better tail hook! sweet, what did it weigh all finished numbskull 09-10-2012, 03:25 PM My buddy picked up a Masterlure Straight Eel the other day at a yard sale ( big $$..$1.00) It's approx 8", was it any good and worth duping?? I built some and fished them a bit. I was not too impressed but didn't give them the chance they probably deserved. I did get one middling bass so they have some potential. Habs also made a loose copy and I think someone, Luds perhaps, had success with it WoodyCT 09-11-2012, 07:35 PM Habs also made a loose copy and I think someone, Luds perhaps, had success with it Called the Habs Stixx Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Sgt Striper 09-13-2012, 11:55 AM A couple more repro's.
