Anyone know of any good spots to fish from the shore on the Back River in Weymouth? I just moved to town a few weeks ago so I'm looking for a place to try out before and after work. Any word on what the fish are hitting?? I am thinking of fishing there tonight if the weather stays decent.:D

Check the tides for today. High tide isn't until 11:30 tonite. Not sure of the proper tides to fish that area, but doesn't seem like there is much water through that area at low. I have fished along there a few times over the past 2 years after work, but only a few schoolies on plugs. Keep your eyes open because there are some pretty shady woods dwellers around the area down by 3A. On a side note, could someone get me directions to the Weymouth herring run?

You need a permit for the Weymouth herring run. They do check.

They limit when and how many can be taken, and don't allow you to take your own. They net em' for ya.

Not interested in getting herring. Not setup for them. Just wondering where it is. Like to fish around those types of areas.

The run goes through alot of Weymouth. The place were we can get em' is in Jackson Square, but there is nothing but herring there.
Fish the back river that is where the herring start from, bass are always caught there.

where do you fish from? boat ro shore? if boat, im not good int hat area. if shore, then go to the webb state park. once u enter through the middle of the bushes, u are standing in the middle of the beach. the shore is rocky on the right side to the end where u can see a bunch of broken poles and mussel beds. the right side has mussel bed. the left side is mostly marshy area. at the low tide, u can see two sand bars. so your best chance of catching those fishes from both side. i must emphasis u on the middle of the sand bar is not the only "best spot." i got a sweet spot for myself, but i aint sharing to ya. unless u discover it, then i cant do anythign about it. :D so u will see horseshoe crabs, skates, many discarded fidder crabs, green crabs, and dungeon crab shells. sea gulls are around. seaclams, bunkers, and herrings work well in the area. if u are fishing in the middle, beware of the edge on the ground of the marsh when wading, u will trip. i tripepd last week wednesday. high tide works better.

if u are going on a boat, u can ask rick from the fore river. he is a cool guy and my friend. his seaclams are fresh.

Just be careful not to leave anything of value in your vehicle.... web parking lot and the one for bare cove are targets for unsavery types...... if you have anything decent it is best to park in the stop & shop lot and walk next to bridge to the river. ;)
