The rest was history for the next 3 hours!!!!!!!LIFE IS GOOD:happy:
Aint life sweet?!...
It is moments like that which you don't forgret!
StripperSearch 05-30-2003, 12:17 PM We must have caught a couple dozen last weekend. They are definiately back - even caught 2 - 34"ers. A new record for me. Only caught a couple of small schoolies though...
Stroth 05-30-2003, 12:35 PM I'm heading down on Sunday.
I'm assuming your on those southern beaches!!!
Good to hear they're still around.
StripperSearch 05-30-2003, 01:43 PM but they were everywhere. good luck!
TheSpecialist 05-30-2003, 06:51 PM Fisherwomnan do the names Mark, and Christine Hendrickson sound familiar? :D I work with Mark at the phone company. Good people.
NEXT2NUN 05-31-2003, 07:41 PM West end of Buzzards is loaded with them toothy somanoguns!
Notaro 06-01-2003, 08:41 AM YESSSSS! They are back on Poppy flats. I was fishign with a guy from Reel-Time.com. I caught them on plugs. I remembered the thread you guys commented on using plugs. I did asserted myself into using it and bam! I caught them all of my plugs. I used a small gotcha plug w/ a bucktail on the end of it. And I caught a FLUKE with it! Bluefish are so dang fierece. They nearly tore my reel from the rod. I used spiderwire stealth and it was pretty productive for lure fishing. I nearly caught a striper on my bucktail jig with a plastic eel on it, but it took it off. I am so addicted to the lures now.... I caught eight blues and one fluke. Blues are in 5 lbs group and a fluke weight 3 lbs. It was feasting on a live grass shrimp. :laughs:
Another thing, how do you prepare a bluefish? My family and I got into a big arguement about preparing blues. We are Asian family. We have our diference on cooking and pereparing fish methods.
fishweewee 06-01-2003, 08:43 AM Notaro-
Just a word of warning from another Asian guy who will eat anything that crawls - Bluefish is TERRIBLE SASHIMI.
Eat it cooked.

Notaro 06-01-2003, 08:43 AM Thanks, man. How do I drain the oily content?
fishweewee 06-01-2003, 09:03 AM One technique is to 1) bleed the fish right after you catch them (make a cut behind the kills, stick in bucket) and 2) soak the filets in sea water repeatedly.
Are they that oily already?
Canalratt1 06-01-2003, 09:45 AM Ice the filets right away take the skin off and cut out all the dark meat. Smaller blues are best prepared on the grill (many differant ways but think some type of marinade or mayo to draw the strong taste out). Excellant eating if prepared right downright nasty if not!
BigFish 06-01-2003, 09:58 AM Hello Notaro, refer to the thread on page 4 titled, "Top Ten Striper Grill Recipes". I left a recipe for striper on that thread that I also use for bluefish. Try it out. I think you will like it and I swear the fish will not taste oily. Good Luck.:kewl:
Notaro 06-01-2003, 10:33 AM i didnt get the skin out. they must be in the freezer by now. how long can i leve them in the freezer? My mom was stupid enough to keep the whole cleaned blues, three of them in the freezer!
alright, i wll do that. so what do i do witht he whole blues now? and i have no idea if they are oily. i cleaned them when i arrived home.
fishweewee 06-01-2003, 10:43 AM Take them out of the freezer asap and eat them right away. Bluese do not freeze well at all.
Notaro 06-01-2003, 10:51 AM they have been frozen since last night. and should i take them out ASAP and fillet them? im going to catch and release them and bring one blues to my family. i warned my parents, but no they wouldnt listen.
fishweewee 06-01-2003, 10:53 AM don't waste those fish - thaw right away and eat...blues should always be regfrigerated not frozen.
stripers can be frozen just fine, though.
Notaro 06-01-2003, 10:55 AM i have four of them in 2-6 lbs class. that's a lot of them. im going to follow your advice, now. i tried talking to them. they keep making excuse like there are viet markets that sell them, but i told them that they dont. i told them that each specie has its own way of tasting. and they are gonna use it for my lil sister's grad party on june 8th. so im going to let them do whatever they want and learn their lesson. like i said, they are asians. how can you reason my parents? they won't. my dad said to me last night, " my people have different style of cooking it." thank god i fillet my own fish last night. im going to let them learn their mistakes.
