Ray's Fly/Wooden Plug Tournament 2003
May 31st, 2003

Fellow anglers,

The season is upon us when all the tourist start to arrive here in town and most of the beaches will soon fill up with people. All the parking will soon fill up or be taken at prime spots and we as fisherman have to deal with this. With this, in the last five years, had our Ray’s Fly tournament near the end of May to allow the local “islanders” to have there last take at some of these lost luxuries come the first of June. We also have it open to who ever wants to come down to the store and hang out or just get out and fish. We call it the Rays Fly Tournament but it’s really a bunch of fisherman who come and fish the local waters and if there luck walk away with a rod or a gift certificate.

This year we have added a “Wooden Plug” category for the guys like Mike Everin or Tattoo who just like to throw big wooded plugs all year round. With this we invite any fisherman who wants to come down to the store and meet some great people as well as talk with some of the local reps from Gloomis, Van Staal, Orvis, Habs Plugs and perhaps wet a line. We will also have Alan J. Robinson AKA “The Map Guy”, from 6pm -9pm. Alan has put some great time into making a water-color based print of the chart 13218. This chart cover the waters from Martha’s Vineyard to Block Island and within these limits Alan has painted 6 great species of fish we get in the local waters as well as a great profile of Beavertail Light. This chart is made exclusively for the SWE and Alan will have prints available to our customers during the evening. We will also be having a cookout outside the store with for all the customers and participants of the tourney. We’ll have some wieners and burgers going and I’m sure a few Sam Adams or two. Well we hope to see you there this weekend. It’s a great time for everyone. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Time Line Of Events: May 31, 2003

The store will open at 6:00am. Please stop in to sign in and let us know your out there. We will have coffee and muffins available and also a rule sheet available. The rules are simple. Fish, catch, measure, release! The honor system applies and biggest fish in each division wins! There will be a gift certificate for each winner in each division. Also, pick up any garbage you may find on our local beaches or estuaries. Help keep the island clean to keep our access open!

6:00am-8:00pm: Ray’s Fly/Wooden Plug Tournament.

12:00pm-6pm: Some of the reps/vendors will be on hand to answer any questions.

6:00pm-9:00pm: Alan J Robinson will be in the store introducing our new water color chart
of chart # 13218. This chart covers from Martha's Vineyard to Block Island
and has six of our species of fish painted on it as well as the light at Beaver
Tail. Sample some cheese and wine and check this artwork out!

8:00-WHENEVER: Sample SWE Cookout. We will have some burgers and wieners going on the
grill. Also we will award the winners of the tournament at this time. This is a
BYOB event.

We hope to see you there! This is a great time and in years past we have seen fisherman from all over come down and pair up with some of the local guys just to learn the island. Hope to see you there!

Thanks,

THE SWE CREW
