I found a dead one on block island a few years ago. It was around the new moon in october and the night after a huge swell it was partially uncovered about half way out to the north rip. The best comparison in size would be a flat Fiat. Amazing animals for sure, i hope this one makes a full recovery.

About 10 years ago There were several (maybe 5) along the length of East Beach from East Beach Rd to the Charlestown breachway all dead and washed ashore. Was a sad thing to see. They were only about 3 footers , not huge like this one.

Lets hope this one recovers fully.

I saw one this summer and I was amazed at how large it was. I have SCUBA dived with sea turtles in Mexico and they were so much smaller. This thing was so huge and right in the middle of Vineyard Sound.

We spotted one a couple weeks ago half buried on the beach near Wood End light. Spotted a large black shape from afar and we were hoping it was a dead seal with some bite marks on it. Motored in for a closer look and were saddened that it was a leatherback turtle.
