What's a good Squid Rig Jig to use and best color??? Years ago they looked like pine cones with pins sticking out. Now a days it seems thata fish jig with hook and barbs on the bottom.
thank you:) :) :)

FlyRod, I still use the jig as you described; "looks like a pine cone with pins sticking out". You can still buy them.

Yo-zuri makes a good squid rig. West marine had them.

You're definitly paying to much if you're buying a squid jig with the name Yo-zuri on it and you're buying it at West Marine.
Try Walmart,Kmart or any other mart for that matter. For what you're paying for one jig at West you can get ten South Bend jigs for the same price anywhere else. And they'll work just as well.
Don't get me wrong Yo-zuri makes some fine plugs(a little overpriced in my book),but to buy'em at West is simply put.......
a financial mistake.

I disagree...I fished south bends jigs, next to guys Yo-zuri's. Yes they are pricey but well worth the $....what are they 7or 8 bucks?? way sharper

The Yozuris aar enot oonly sharper than the "reditional" squid jis, their action, shape, color or whatever draws a lot more strikes. I've fished them side by side and the youzuri outfished the other five to one.

...It's definately the action of the lure >>>...southbends' and the latter...tend to sink too fast when the squid are finicky... the Yozi's have that tease-me action that will normally get a non-interested squid<<<INTERESTED!!:)...The Yozi's aren't cheap though, but they're definately something you want in your arsenal if your a squidder....as far as colors, go with the brighter ones...in my experience,,,there have only been a few times where one color was out-squidding another...
...I like white or yellows, red - sometimes
I can't stress this enough. If you have the opportunity to squid under some lights...YOU MUST!!...just to watch the squid and see how it attempts to strike the lure. It is very very educational. It will increase your catch rate by 50%...especially for those times when your blind-squidding.
...here's an old post, I used the search button :D... Imagine that!!...skwid search (http://www.striped-bass.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2503&highlight=squid)
Storm has some squid jigs out there that look so good...
I would eat them!
