Gonna go opening day. My buddy's dog is phenomenal and we have private land abutting "stocked property" that always has birds. Who else is going? If anyone wants to go send me a pm.

Man, I wish but I just can't get into a damn Hunter Safety Course so I can get my license. Been trying to get into one since February and they fill up so quickly, not to mention it's tough to carve out 4-6 consecutive tue/thurs nights out of the schedule.

I go to a stocked WMA here in RI by myself in the middle of the week after they stock em, no dogs and always do quite well. I just walk my arse off, keep my eyes and ears open and let them fly for a few seconds if they jump. Probably 20% of the time I see them sneaking before I know they are there.

Limited out yesterday after walking for miles and miles. Good exercise.

Lots of great upland areas near Holyoke.... Cut my pheasant hunting teeth in those cornfields by the river.

Every Tues, Thurs. and Sat. Been dealing with a lot of woodcock all season. Don't eat them so I don't shoot them....but the dog likes to work them....and disappear into the briars and brambles where a rabbit wouldn't go.

Are they good eating? I've never been hunting, but we just got a flat-coated retriever puppy, and I am interested...

They are delicious. If you need wings to train the pup let me know.
