just had some trees felled around my yard...i have 10-15 cords worth. red oak cut into 4' lenghts, up to 20" in dia. looking to give away half, pick up in coventry.

nice. red oak is a dream to split. Just plan a solid 2 years to season.

i did some red oak years ago. i crossed stacked it and it was ready within a year, i think the cross stacking is key.

Yeah, cross stacking in a sunny area helps a LOT. I put up 5 cords a year and have a very wooded lot. So I'm sure the lack of a decent area
to season my wood is what puts me at a solid 2 years for red oak unless it's a wicked dry summer. I do love the way it splits and burns though. Heck, It's faster to split by hand 90% of the time.

thanks guys. ordering a chainsaw tomorrow for the stuff i'm keeping. final 2 tree go down wed/thurs. 4' monster logs are ready to go anytime- pm me.
