I think just that little turn of East vs. Northeast has the wind hitting harder at my house, less land to travel over. This storm has been a bit worse in terms of wind and definitely rain. I've ridden the length of the Canal into 30 mph winds, and even in my low gears and at my level of fitness, it ain't easy. It's like climbing an 8% grade hill---for 7 miles. I can imagine it on a heavy bike, with two rods and gear in the baskets.
