A friend saw one from his treestand and started making a few predator calls; the fisher cat immediately started stalking his tree and before he knew it the thing was up his tree. He spooked it and it disappeared only to reappear in a pine next to him still trying to get a piece of him. He took a shot at it and missed and as the arrow went whizzing by the fisher jumped out of the tree and went after the arrow. Tough buggers.

THEY ARE NOT PARTICULARLY SMART

but they can get down right nasty when pushed

sneaky enough to ambush jumping out of a tree

I've seen one crossing Route 1 headed for The Hungry Haven. Honest. Think he lives in the swamp behind what was once Rathbun's Fish Market / Roger's Motorcycle Shop.

the first fishercat i ever saw was out in the Berkshires several years ago while turkey hunting...i'm fully camo'd walking through the woods and i hear movement up ahead...a doe comes out of the brush and stops 20 feet from me, staring at me but not knowing what's up...i'm still, staring back at her for half a minute...then off to my right i see more movement and look up, a fishercat proceeds to run in between me and the doe and kept running until it was out of sight...both me and the doe stare at this critter as it runs between us, then we both look back at each other and she finally bolts...

i'm standing there wondering why an otter is running around the middle of the woods in southwestern mass??...

That was a male... they can get big... the biggest one I ever trapped was 27lbs... .. the females are a little bigger than a buck mink @ about 6- 7 lbs.....10lbs is a huge female..

When Capt. Don ran Quonny Tackle, he had a mounted fishercat in the store. Ferocious looking creature.

Saw my first one the winter I lived in telluride co. I was working at the restataunt at the top of the mountain and one got into our storage building which was also the clean and brown water storage. Little beady eye devil got into the brown tank and then ran laps inside storage room until we caught it in a have a heart trap. Mean looking animals. Amazed me how small of an area they can get into almost like a mouse. I've also seen a few in foxborough over the last few years at the golf course.
