Literally:

BOSTON (WHDH) -- A man has set up a tent on what appears to be a small barge in the middle of Boston Harbor.
The man is currently living in a tent in the harbor near Logan Airport. A canoe appears to be tied up beside the tent.
U.S. Coast Guard officials told 7News they are aware of the man, but also say he is not breaking any laws.
“He has some camping gear back there. For the most part he’s kind of living off the area…we have visibility on him. We patrol the area everyday with Boston Police. As of right now, he’s not doing anything illegal,” said Lt. Joe Klinker, U.S. Coast Guard. “I will admit, this isn’t something I see commonly -- folks on a canoe trying to live out on the water.”
Coast Guard officials say they will keep tabs on the man as long as he is out there.

Interesting. Gonna be the new fad come May. But for December - it sucks.

Apparently he's homeless and moves around the harbor, heard an interview with him last night that said he uses a canoe rather than the standard shopping cart to haul his stuff as he can fit more into the canoe.

I keep my boat in East Boston on the Winthrop side and I saw him a few times in his canoe in August and September. Mostly in the inner harbor, say from the airport in towards the Coast Guard station. I don't know where he was camping during the summer and fall but there are plenty of places to hide out around the harbor.
