I can't understand why more people don't have an EPIRB, I haven't even got a boat anymore yet when I got a kayak I got an EPIRB. I hope it is just a case of out of radio range and they stayed fishing longer than they planned.

we are talking about a ~50ft full blown comm scalloper, not some goog or weekend warrior.
I'm guessing they had/have all necessary gear. Lets pray they are in their raft...

Wow, this doesn't sound good. I hope it's just an out of range issue. To just disappear in the relatively calm weather we have had doesn't seem right. I hope they weren't on autopilot and got steamed over by a ship. I hope they find them soon and everyone is ok.:(

It might be the meds, but maybe you shouldn't speculate on something like this until the facts are in....

If there was an epirb would they be missing? Once again an unneccesary attempt to do nothing but provoke me. If you haven't noticed I tend to speak my mind and attempts to quiet me by making mountains out of mole hills tend to have the opposite results. Attack the message not the messenger.

It was a tough day on the water: Hard Merchandise (Dave M of Wicked Tuna fame) sank while at the dock!

About any of the information, EPIRB, range, weather. as was pointed out, it wasn't calm, and it was a full commercial boat w/ all the gear.

There is a difference between speaking your mind and speaking out of your #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&

Arguing over things you know nothing about like wether or not there is an epirb is not cool right now.

It's not grouchy, it is an agenda some of the members here have. I have contributed to the sight by posting to entertain as well as from a monetary stand point and yet still get no respect. It is has if there is a cique of members here some of which are moderators that seem to opperate as if they have no limitations. Many times I may indeed look like a fool but that's ok. I have tried to reach out to others (It is the meds) and yet receive no insight. I am entitled to my opinion and try and do so in a somewhat respective manner but as some can see I am not above going to the same level. I guess I'm ok with being the fall guy, IMHO somethings have to be said no matter how distasteful it may be. I guess this also makes me the bad guy insome member's eye's. Oh well, 'Let the games begin' , I hope you find it entertaining.

I made a statement followed by what might actually show concern. But your selective interpetation of my post has turned this into an aurgument. So much attention only leads me to think perhaps what I have to say could make a difference and members like yourself must find my post a potential threat. What's your agenda?

I still remember your sinks outside the bathroom rant! All good stuff. dont let anything out here bother you. The web blab should be seen as a bar room disucssion, not a meeting of the minds.

BTW - RIRock - my daughter has a test today on weathering/erosion etc and I was quizzing her last night. The fact that she needs to know the difference from a stalagtite and stalagmite made me chuckle. That knowledge and a few $ will buy you a cup of coffee.

All commercial fishing boats are required to have an epirb. further more, All documented commercial fishing boats require an auto-deploy epirb.

Now I have been enlightened to the fact it was a comercial vessel which lead to this replyWow, this doesn't sound good. I hope it's just an out of range issue. Once again showing concern/compassion.

I am aware of that but perhaps other aren't, thats why I posted WOW, so thanks for educating others :btu:
certainly wasn't calm yesterday.

In this case I am home and from here it seemed like relatively calm weather, so please forgive my ignorance of the sea cionditions. How bad was it by the way? I am sincerely asking because once again I am far from shore. No malicious intentions as I hope you now realize that I was not being disrespectful in any of my previous post.
It kind of went down hill from there.:wall:

Never gonna happen, they had ample opportunity to put an end to it but chose not to. I guess I should have just taken the disrespect and kept my mouth shut. It's just an example of what is wrong with society today, I suppose they hoped they would push me to the point I snapped. Funny how many folks have been poisoned by others to the point even when I compliment someone it goes unacknowledged in order to avoid any possible acceptance of me. There are members I have helped and been real nice to and even they keep their connection to me hidden. Best be careful they may look down on you too. It is what it is.
I hope they found the vessel but that doesn't really mean much now does it.

Whatever happened must have happened really fast. No distress call, no time to get in the raft...scary stuff. I feel terrible for the families involved.
