I need an air compressor to fill truck tires, boat trailer, etc. The canister ones vary in size of gallon tanks. What size do I need for this type of stuff?

Pfft... right *now* you think you only need it for filling tires. Then you're realize, "oh, I can use this to *change* the tires, and paint, and as a hammer chisel, and 10 other ways."

My brother in law had a cheapo from Harbor Freight that died after a couple years. He just ordered a Dewalt through amazon and I'm thinking about getting the same.
DEWALT D55167 1.6 HP 200 PSI Oil Free High Pressure Low Noise Horizontal Portable Compressor - Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-D55167-Pressure-Horizontal-Compressor/dp/B0014GEZBY/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&tag=topitems03-20&qid=1355943653&sr=8-29&keywords=air+compressor)

I think that's a 15 gallon tank. If you don't expect to use it much at all, you could probably get away with a 10 or 12 gallon tank.

The little pancake ones from harbor freight for 50bucks work fine. I built the addition on my bathroom with it using a stud nail gun it was fine. Noisy but fine, if you want quiet get belt driven
