Has anyone been getting emails from:

Sender: Jane Brooks
Subject: www.striped-bass.com
Reply Address: jane_brooks@coolstats.com

They seem to be computer/web related in content but by no means do they have anything to do with fishing!

WZUP with them???

Rob - as spammers gets more anti-spam hurdles, they increase their odds by including stuff that you are likely to want to read. The get a lot of this info from those e-mails that are sent to a bazillion addresses. They even go so far as to fake sending an e-mail from other well known domains. I did a website last year for a friend and every now and them I get e-mails from soandso@ his domain name even though I KNOW they are not coming from that server...

It's real easy too - I can send you an e-mail as god@fish.com if I wanted to...

:spam: I hate :spam: ,

I use an email at work to avoid spam (nospam@nospam.com) ( btw "this is a fake email address") when I have to sign up or give out an email address on the net, I clean it out automaticly when the messages are more than 24 hr's.
If you have to use a legit email in a post or on a webpage post it like this to avoid automatic e-mail harvesters getting your address.
post this way:

yakfisher_ri**nospam**@yahoo.com

and tell people to remove the **nospam** part of the email address if they need to send you a mail.
Use a throw away email address (from any free email provider) as your public address and give your good email address to people you trust... (hehe) in form of a pm etc. This will keep your good email box clean and uncluttered. Make sure that you keep up the throw away email address because a lot of times you will get a confirmation email where you have to click on a link for the registration to take effect. This also verifies that email address and increases the value of that mailing list (registered / verified email addresses are worth a lot of money)..... And will receive a lot more :spam: spam

Did I tell you guys I hate :spam: :spam: :spam: Spam:doh: :yak: :yak4: :yak6: :liquify:

C'mon Nils, don't you want to see my web cam or enlarge your penis or enlarge your breasts or lose 50 lbs or get the lowest rate on your mortgage or get a Russian spam-order bride or get Viagra on-line?

I noticed that anyone who has an e-mail address, particularly an AOL address (that subs PAY for), that is posted in a semi-public forum (like Monster.com or Hotjobs.com or E-bay) is often the focus of spammers.

Best part is now they've come up with ways to take the "nospam" and misc invalid characters outta your email address when you post it like that, so you're still highly visible to them.

Best thing to do is take your email address OUT of your browser so they can't send you a cookie and take your email address, and don't post ANYTHING anywhere they could harvest it.

And tell all your friends NOT to use carbon copy, use BLIND CARBON copy when they send a joke or email to multiple people. That way you don't get an email that is forwarded to 100 people with email addresses showing.
If people wised up to how these guys work then it would cut their ball size in half :D
