View Full Version : Kayak Fishing Goals For 2013!
BigFish 01-01-2013, 11:13 AM I have a few....do you? New locations you would like to launch from? Species you would like to target salt or fresh?? Maybe a special trip you have been wanting to make?? Maybe you want to try to top that personal best from your kayak?? Maybe you want to just get out more??? Lets hear what you have on your mind for 2013 for your kayak fishing season ahead!:uhuh:
BigFish 01-01-2013, 11:17 AM Mine??? Yeah I have a few goals! To pull a striper over 30 pounds into the yak would be great! I would like to get more proficient at methods other than just plugging (thats right...I said it!):uhuh: tube and worm, maybe some night time eeling! I would like to do more flounder fishing this season! Some early season trout fishing from the yak! More freshwater bass fishing for sure! I have also been dreaming about making a trip up to 1000 Islands and doing some kayak fishing for Musky!!!! Maybe I can get a couple Yak Rats to come along with me??? I also would like to get out with my Yak Rat buddies alot more this season!:uhuh:
Slingah 01-01-2013, 11:57 AM Mine??? Yeah I have a few goals! I would like to get more proficient at methods other than just plugging (thats right...I said it!):uhuh: tube and worm, maybe some night time eeling! I would like to do more flounder fishing this season! :uhuh:
What have you done with Larry?
Slingah 01-01-2013, 12:03 PM I do have a couple goals. The past few years life obligations have put a backseat to my fishing. I bought a yak and really have not used it. So I am going to make the time to yak fish and hopefully get to fish with you guys.
fishbones 01-01-2013, 03:41 PM I need to find more time to get out this season. Last year I got out in the yak once in fresh water and didn't fish the salt in it. Hopefully I'll have more time this year and can get out with the yak rats again.

BigFish 01-01-2013, 09:57 PM I will look into a few things Kev!:uhuh:
The Dad Fisherman 01-02-2013, 06:02 AM as far as goals go I just want to get out more. want to spend more time on Joppa. a 30 over the rail would be nice.
Brought the yak to Cutty last year....looking to do that again this year. Definitely going to do some more fresh water bassin in it.....also need to get a few rats up here for a scramble.
Rockport24 01-03-2013, 11:22 AM Maybe try some more night time missions with eels, but not too many, one of the beauties of the yak and you can actually do pretty well when the sun is up!
The Dad Fisherman 01-03-2013, 11:38 AM Suck it up and get out there at night....
Rockport24 01-04-2013, 01:35 PM HA I knew that was coming from you... I require more sleep now!
Backbeach Jake 01-04-2013, 08:21 PM I'd like to try more freshwater venues this year, rivers, lakes , ponds. Take more pictures from the yak, I like that a lot.More saltwater spots as well, bays, marshes. Open ocean doesn't interest me at all in my tupperware boat.
Btw trophy pike fishing is one hell of a lot closer than you might believe.
wdmso 01-10-2013, 12:32 PM Last year was a strictly a Night time activity w\Eels but the % of fish caught at night was 10-1 compared to my day trips ..
For me more night trips just trying different spots
Hoping to try for flatfish this year; Boston Harbor or Duxbury.
Anyone with suggestions is welcome to P.M. me...
The Dad Fisherman 01-10-2013, 03:27 PM I'm into chasing the Flatties...I'll keep in touch as the time nears.

What kind of bait does one use to go scallop fishing:confused::rotf2:
Tagger 01-22-2013, 04:29 AM What kind of bait does one use to go scallop fishing:confused::rotf2:
a 10" ring long handled dip net . I don't know ?,, fishing ? , They call pulling pots fishing .
Grapenuts 01-22-2013, 06:30 AM anything with a shell is just that..claming-lobstering..no fishing after it........now anything with a fin on it if your hunting it is fishing...only time it's called shellfishing is when you go get a permit,,but you don't need a permit to fish for shells along a beach....no such thing as a piss clam.its just clam...cohogs are cohogs not hardshells....when you go scooollopin [no a in scollops] always eat the first doz. raw on the spot, that way if you make back to the truck alive you know their ok an havn't been poluted.
nalu22 01-23-2013, 10:52 AM This will be my 2nd season with a Yak; goals for 2013 will be more open ocean trips to some great RI reef's, get a fish finder, come up with a better trolling system, land an Albie, land a 50#, and explore Sakonnet Light area more. :)
