Just wanted to give a ringing endorsement for these pliers. I bought the "Super Pro Guide" version of them, but they are available in 4 "trim levels" and they are great. If anyone is in the market for a pair of strong and easily operated splits, these are worth a look.
I have been using a pair of Rapala guide pliers that had a split ring tip, lost em in a buddy's truck and picked these up.

I use them when I steelhead fish to flatten and punch my pencil leads when I'm bottom scratching...they work great.

Nice pliers. I use the Zuron as they are made right up here in Saco,Maine. Work sweet an cost 17 a pair. Both have a nitch they fit into.
Just the split bring pliers are going for $15.99 at cabelas right now, but the ones I gt are harder to find... kinda regretting springing for the deluxe model

JIGNPOP XL Pliers by Texas Tackle
I bought mine for 20 bucks at RISA from http://www.jignpop.com/categories/Pliers/
Great on tuna terminal tackle, they will open any split ring with ease unlike many cheaper pliers.
