Yes or no?

I've only ever done through wired. Pros/cons? Between the technology of using SS, two drill hole sizes, and epoxy, I am convinced they will hold in all but the softest of wood species.
Which plug styles? I was thinking maple darters and needles.

This question began as I was looking at some successful plugs from BlondTerror and Freak, and hadn't noticed that they used hangers and/or screw eyes.......

They will hold....especially if they are threaded 1/2" or more.......I prefer thru wire though!

Chunkah posted a video on the other site, good stuff. They hold fine.

Epoxy sticks them in soft wood just fine, especially the heavy .092 stainless ones.

Use the longest ones possible.

It is easier to through drill. Getting screw eyes exactly on line (not tilted a bit) is harder than it sounds. You also lose any ability to tweak the line tie to adjust for depth or side to side action. If you use large screw eyes trying to get split rings over them without springing the ring is near impossible. Hooks tear out easier when pinned by a fixed attachment point.

I used them a fair amount early on an regretted it. If you want to go that route I'd suggest making your own out of TIG wire so you can bend them. Just twist it in a drill, drill a small hole and epoxy it in. Works better than the screw in kinds. Or use sinker eyes and Frech's method of epoxying them into 1/4" holes. It is very strong as long as you have not sealed the plug before you do it.
